How sad - it sounds like Alfredo's in EPCOT's Italy pavilion will be closing. There are no details that I've seen yet - but it sounds like it's going to happen. I know Skipper Ben enjoyed this restaurant very much,as did my wife and I - it will be missed! Crying or Very sad

Where'd you get this info from? What will be replacing it? Hopefully a really authentic good Italian restaurant! Smile

I'm holding all comments until I hear a confirmation on this.

Until then, I'll be crying in a corner.

I haven't heard anything about this from any other of the web's sources...

And I'm sure we would have by now... It's ridiculously popular, I don't see it leaving...

*shrug*

I await further developments...

Sorry - but here's confirmation as reported over on Intercot.com:

"February 26, 2007

Alfredo di Roma Ristorante Closing!

Walt Disney World has announced that Alfredo di Roma Ristorante, a fixture at the Italy Pavilion in Epcot for over 20 years, is closing permanently at the end of July, 2007. There will be a replacement Italian restaurant opening in the same location, but at this time Disney has not released any further details. Guests who have advanced dining reservations beyond the closing date will be contacted by Disney in order to make alternate arrangements."

Still very sad - Sad

That makes no sense whatsoever. Why close a perfectly good restaraunt that is popular? Close a unpopular one if you have to close something!

Awww, what a shame! I didn't get a chance to eat there on my last trip, but had it pencilled in as a 'must do' when we return next year. Bummer!

Sad

I ate there once a few summers ago and got sick afterwards. I'm not pinning it on the food since I have been there a million times and never had a problem. May have been a bug that came out. I was fine the next day so whatever.

But anyway

Maybe they are making room for an even better place!

Yep, I just posted about this in the News & Rumors segment. Sorry Skipper Ben. I hope you aren't too bummed out. This rumor seems to have gained traction over the last few days on a few other Disney boards.

I have reservations for April 12th, so I am going to enjoy every bite. It will be my first and last time there. Could it be that Alfredo's is being hurt financially by the DDP? It's a small chain restaurant with other locations in New York, Rome, and soon to be in Las Vegas.

Sad

Edited to Add: I just read this over at allearsnet.com. Serious bummer...

L'Originale Alfredo di Roma to Close August 31, 2007!

Disney's contract with L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante ends August 31, 2007. Disney is currently working on plans to develop a new Italian restaurant for World Showcase's Italy pavilion. No further details are yet available.

Ricky I emailed you about this on Tuesday 2/27. There's been lots of discussion on MousePlanet. Closes end of August 2007. Another company will be taking over. Seems lots of people think that standrards havebeen dropping. Never tried the place so can't comment.
