Conan O’Brien launches nationwide stage show tour
Only a few weeks after leaving “The Tonight Show” (after the majorly unfunny Jay Leno to usurped his spot), comedian Conan O’Brien has launched a nationwide tour across the United States that’s being billed as “a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence.”
O’Brien is calling the tour “The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour,” referencing his much-publicized non-competition agreement that he has with NBC-Universal as part of his departure from the network.
Many believe Coco, as fans have been calling him, will return to the airwaves when his noncompete expires, but until then 32 cities across the country will be treated to his antics on stage.
Tour dates begin in Eugene, OR on April 12 and conclude in Atlanta, GA on June 14.
Tickets, and a tour poster (seen here) based off of artwork from a fan who rallied behind O’Brien during the recent late night war, can be found at the new web site: TeamCoco.com.
I hope they add a Florida date or two to the tail end of the tour as I’d love to see this act in person.
TweetTrent Reznor leaves Twitter, the public eye, and plans the end of Nine Inch Nails
Just a few minutes ago, Trent Reznor, founder and frontman for Nine Inch Nails (one of my favorite bands) has taken another step toward ending his public persona and moving toward a private life. He deleted his Twitter account.
Reznor posted a message on Twitter saying, “I believe I’ve done all I care to do here at this point.” Minutes later, his Twitter account (fomerly @trent_reznor), which had over 600,000 followers, vanished.
It was previously announced that with Reznor’s recent finding of a serious love interest, he planned on stopping work on Nine Inch Nails. Over the past few years, Reznor has set out in his own unique path with his band, releasing albums and high-definition concert footage for free online, and even giving free access to the group’s complete catalogue of albums through their iPhone app. It appeared to be in an effort to begin to change the way that music is released to the masses.
Now, all that may be coming to an end while Reznor seeks to remove himself from the public eye. The final Nine Inch Nails tour, appropriately called “Wave Goodbye,” has been announced:
Getting right to the point, we’re going to play a handful of shows in NYC, Chicago and LA starting August 22nd. They will be informal affairs in medium to small venues with longer set-lists, possible special guests, cool openers and other surprises. Upon reflection, the NIN/JA tour felt like we had to rush through sets due to a limited allotted set length and many shows were in daylight – it just didn’t feel right to end NIN that way. An offer to headline a festival (being announced soon) set the idea in motion to play some FUN shows to end this up with. If we can get it together we’ll film these shows, too.In NYC we’ll be playing Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and Terminal 5. In Chicago, the Aragon Ballroom. In LA we’ll be at The Wiltern, The Henry Fonda, The Palladium and The Echoplex. These should be cool, unusual and unique shows and I hope you come out – this is it.So far, The Horrors will be joining us for some shows in NYC, Mew will be with us at other shows in NYC, Chicago and LA, and perhaps more.Details and ticket info will be announced shortly, so check back. Thanks,Trent
Tickets for these final tour dates go on sale today at 5 p.m. EST for registered nin.com members. Unfortunately, I won’t make any of these shows, so I’m glad I had the chance to see NIN in concert three times in my life.
Nine Inch Nails’ Twitter account is still active, for the moment.
To Trent: Thanks for all the great music and incredible shows. It’s been wonderful following your efforts from the past 20 years. Here’s hoping for a return some day.
TweetThe ’90s Return: Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction to Tour Together
Alternative rock of the early- and mid-1990s is making a comeback (finally!) as Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addition embark on a tour together.
From orlandosentinel.com:
TweetNine Inch Nails and the original Jane’s Addiction lineup will embark on a May/June co-headlining tour that will see these seminal artists sharing a stage for the first time since the historic debut of the Lollapalooza festival in 1991. The genesis of the upcoming tour came about in late 2008 after NIN’s Trent Reznor was tapped to produce Jane’s first recordings since reforming.
The NIN/JA tour will feature a streamlined NIN with Reznor on vocals, guitars, keys, Robin Finck on guitars and keys, Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass and keys, and newest NIN member IIan Rubin on drums and keys. NIN’s stripped down configuration for the upcoming dates was inspired by a pair of club shows toward the end of last year’s wildly ambitious Lights In The Sky tour. Leaving the massive production in the trucks for those two nights freed up the band for spontaneous performances including several seldom-aired NIN classics and inspired NIN to take a similarly unencumbered and unpredictable approach to the May/June dates, which include previously announced NIN appearances at the Sasquatch and Bonnaroo festivals.
Los AngelesFor the first time in seventeen years, the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction will tour – vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins.

Support for all NIN/JA dates will be Street Sweeper, a collaboration between Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/The Nightwatchman and Boots Riley of The Coup.
Tickets go on sale beginning March 13th, visit NIN.com, JanesAddiction.com and LiveNation.com for additional ticket and tour information.

THURSDAY THEME PARK: Cinderella Castle Suite – Unique Pictures and Floor Plan

This may end up being the most difficult daily theme to post about each week, as there are so many topics to choose from. This week, I’ve chosen to write about…
The Cinderella Castle Suite in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World
The suite was created as a mega-prize for Disney’s Year of a Million Dreams promotion. Someone would be randomly chosen at Walt Disney World to spend a night inside Cinderella Castle. Unfortunately, I was never chosen. Nearing the end of the promotion, Disney decided to host a day of 15-minute tours of the Cinderella Castle Suite for annual passholders. Spots filled up quickly, but I was able to nab one and was very excited to finally be able to walk around inside.
Search Google Images and you’ll find a ton of similar pictures taken from inside the Cinderella Castle Suite. Instead of reposting more shots of their luxurious bathtub or comfortable bedding, I thought I’d share a few photos I took that I hadn’t seen elsewhere.
Upon stepping foot into the suite, I was shocked at how small it is. I knew it was just 650 square feet, but that didn’t register until I was actually inside. The wide-angle lens photos I had previously seen online made it seem so much more spacious.
When I arrived back home, I searched for a floor plan of the suite and couldn’t find one, so I decided to make my own. It’s not perfectly to scale, and I’m sure I’ve made a few small mistakes in the exact placement of the doorways, but I think it does the trick for giving you a basic idea of how everything is laid out:
As you can see, the floor plan is pretty basic. The foyer/entry way contains a couple of glass cases with decorative items including Cinderella’s glass slipper. That area isn’t really part of the suite, but rather serves as a landing area when getting off of the elevator (which holds up to 10 people, by the way).
On with the photos:
You access the suite via an unmarked brown door on the right side as you walk through Cinderella Castle. As soon as you step through that door, you’re standing in a concierge area where one of Disney’s cast members sits at a desk (pictured here) all night in case you need anything while you’re staying inside the suite. Since the Magic Kingdom is full of activity throughout the night, they can’t have you just aimlessly wandering around, getting in the way of maintenance and cleaning crews, so all requests go through this butler of sorts.
