365 Adventures in 2011: Day 209 – San Diego Comic-Con swag
A lot of people have been asking to see the swag we picked up at the San Diego Comic-Con so here’s a sampling. Everything on this table was free. I’ll be posting a more thorough look at all of this, plus a bunch of posters, plus a bunch of stuff that we bought soon.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 204 – Costume at Comic-Con
I can now say I have worn a costume to the San Diego Comic-Con. I was Mario as a Ghostbuster, fighting a Boo. I already owned a Ghostbusters “costume” T-shirt so I wore that along with tan pants, a Mario hat and mustache I picked up at Party City recently, and a Ghostbusters proton pack backpack with detachable proton gun pouch. To finish it off, I used an old green light saber as the proton stream and stuck the cardboard Boo I made earlier this week onto the end. I think it turned out pretty well, considering the time and money I spent on it.
But I do have more respect for convention goers who wear elaborate costumes all day. The mustache and hat were annoying me after only a few minutes of wearing them and I got sick of carrying around the proton gun setup very quickly. Though I only walked around the convention hall for maybe 15-20 minutes wearing the costume, I’m still happy that I did it. It’s one of those things that I can check off my life “to do” list. And a couple people laughed at the costume idea as well, which was great.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 203 – Hall H
Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center has become somewhat of a second home in the last couple days. I spent many hours in there yesterday and this morning attended a fantastic panel featuring Steven Spielberg and surprise guest Peter Jackson (with a double-surprise appearance by Andy Serkis). But none of the remaining Hall H panels interest me enough to wait hours in line again, so this was my last trip inside that huge room and I had to get a photo on the way out.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 116 – San Diego Comic Con here I come?
With Inside the Magic continuing to expand, this year seems like a great time to finally attend and cover the massive San Diego Comic Con. So today I assembled all the necessary paperwork (with samples of recent articles, photos, videos) to apply for press passes. Provided that we’re accepted (we should be), we’ll be heading to San Diego in July and returning with video, photos, and articles of all that is Comic Con.
TweetReal Tru Blood drink coming to stores in September
Fans of the HBO hit series True Blood interested in sampling the show’s title beverage but without that nasty metallic aftertaste will enjoy this…
From trubeverage.com:
It’s official! The Tru Blood drink has now been “de-fictionalized” and emerges into reality as a delicious blood orange carbonated drink. Introduced during the True Blood forum at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, 2009, the drink will hit store shelves in September. It boasts a crisp, slightly tart, lightly sweet tang, and a deep red color to match the appearance of the Tru Blood product featured on the True Blood series. The premium blood orange drink is packaged in a completely unique 14 oz glass wide-mouth bottle, stained in a rich red, with raised Tru Blood English lettering and an embossed Japanese Kanji on the neck. A gold foiled label emblazoned with the bold Tru Blood logo completes the distinctive look.
Here’s the official announcement video from Comic-Con, featuring the show’s stars drinking Tru Blood:
And a couple amusing “commercials” to go with it:
You can pre-order some Tru Blood now at $16 for a 4-pack to be shipped on September 8. That’s $4 per 14-ounce glass bottle, which is not a bad deal for fans since the bottles are near replicas of those seen on the show.
Here are a few more details from HBO’s site:
