365 Adventures in 2011: Day 211 – A chance meeting with Angelica

If you saw my post about visiting the new Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook meet-and-greet earlier today, you probably thought my photo of the day was going to be me with one of the Disney Fairies. But no – it’s me with a different female character at the Magic Kingdom. Believe it or not, despite the fact that she has been in the park since April, I had seen Angelica from “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” until today. The line to get a photo with her was only 2 people long, so I gladly jumped in for a picture.

We exchanged few words, as she seemed to have more important pirate-y things on her mind. And sure enough, a few minutes later, she led a gang of young pirates on a march through Adventureland. (I’ve included a couple shots of that as a bonus below.)

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 137 – Yo Ho, A Preview Life for Me

Tonight I attended a preview screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth film in the “Pirates” series. I’ll post a full review tomorrow on InsideTheMagic.net but in short, it was great! It’s not quite as good as the first film, but far better than the second and third (which isn’t saying much). The plot is simple, the action is fun, and there are jokes are throughout, but without being silly. I enjoyed it.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 126 – May 20 is going to be a fun day

Today was a busy work day, but two items kept me thinking of some of the many fun things coming up in the next couple weeks. During the day, the Summer 2011 issue of the Mickey Monitor showed up in the mail, previewing Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, which opens May 20 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I’ll definitely be there for that. Then, after work was all done, Michelle and I played my review copy of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. I’m not allowed to post my thoughts on the game until its official release date on May 10, but it did keep me thinking of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” which also opens on May 20. Blackbeard (from the new film) will be added to the Pirates ride at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland on May 20 as well. It’s going to be a busy (but fun) day!

Oh, and I got an extra copy of the LEGO Pirates game to give away too. Click here to enter the contest.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 115 – LEGO Pirates make ye believe in ghost stories, savvy?

Over the weekend, I picked up a couple of new Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO kits during Toys R Us’ buy one, get one 50% off sale. Tonight I built Isla de Muerta from the first Pirates film, including minifigs of Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, Skeleton Barbossa, and Elizabeth Swan. The kit is decent but the minifigs are really the best part.

Highlights and photos from Toy Fair 2011 – The Walking Dead, Terminator, Duke Nukem, Pirates LEGOs, BioShock, Ghostbusters, and more

I visited Toy Fair 2011 today in New York from the comfort of my office in Florida by way of coverage of the annual event from Collider.com and ActionFigs.com.

I wish I had been there in person, but since I wasn’t, sifting through photo galleries was the next best thing. And I pulled out pictures of the toys, action figures, and other fun things that I’ll most likely be buying when they hit the market soon.

So here’s my vicarious photo report from Toy Fair 2011 of what I’m most looking forward to…

Terminator

I have quite the collection of Terminator 2 figures already, so I’m quite happy to see NECA coming out with a couple of Arnold from the original Terminator as well. Plus more fun sculpts of the T-1000 are always fun too:
