365 Adventures in 2011: Day 310 – Cheese
Today was another visit to the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, likely the last for 2011. I tried a bunch of items I hadn’t had before, including an artisan cheese selection with Le Delice de Bourgogne Lincet, Thomasville Tomme Sweet Grass Dairy, and Chevre Affine Wyngaard Kaas. It was a great combination of mild, medium, and strong tasting cheese with honey, fig, and crackers to go with them. Yum.

I was on a mission to buy the new DuckTales shirt I heard was available at Epcot and when I got there, I also spotted an excellent Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers shirt too, so I had to get both. While I like the DuckTales shirt (Woo hoo!), I love this Rescue Rangers shirt because it doesn’t say anything, so it’s slightly more subtle. Slightly.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 277 – Food and Wine Time
After skipping the always crowded first weekend, Michelle and I enjoyed a trip around the World Showcase for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. There are a lot of great new items to try this year, and a few that aren’t so great. But in the end I left stuffed and look forward to going back to try a few more, as I only ate a small percentage of the many dishes that are available.
Food review and photos here.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 252 – Mr Toad returns… kinda
Oh how I wish this picture was of me standing in front of a newly-reconstruction Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in the Magic Kingdom, ready to board once again. But alas, it is only a facade set up for this weekend’s “Florida Project” merchandise event at Epcot. Regardless, it was still wonderful to see a trio of Toad vehicles lined up, as if ready to enter the magical fireplace in Toad Hall. The facade looked great and brought back wonderful memories of decades past, before the ride shut down in the late ’90s. Yes there’s a version of it at Disneyland, which I happily ride every time I visit there, but it’s simply not the same as what was once where The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh now resides in the Magic Kingdom.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 132 – Great Disney Scavenger Hunt, Day 1
I am exhausted. Today was day 1 of the Great Disney Scavenger Hunt, put on by the Disney D23 fan club. We started the Hunt in good spirits shortly after 10am at Epcot. We had 95 questions of varying degrees of difficulty to answer by speed walking through the entire park, riding a handful of rides. Four hours later, we turned in our completed question book and were completely wiped out… but feeling accomplished. Epcot is huge but we did well.
After a break, it was time for our second park of the day where we spent 3 more hours at the Magic Kingdom. After that, we were even more wiped out. We didn’t do quite as well at Magic Kingdom, but still NEARLY finished all the questions (and took educated guesses on the rest).
In the end, I think we got around 98% of all the questions right, which is pretty darn good. I hope we win the grand prize of a Disney Cruise, but I have a feeling a small handful of teams will do better than us and get ALL the questions right. We’ll find out tomorrow night after we continue the Hunt at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Oh and our team is the Junior Woodchucks, named after the Boy Scouts-style group that Huey, Dewey, and Louie belong to (with honorary Junior Woodchuck Webbigail). Our team was myself (Huey), my wife Michelle (Webbigail), and our friends Kenny (Dewey) and Kurt (Louie). We dressed the part.
