From wired.com:

Disney lawyers’ heads must be spinning over this one. A movie posted on Stanford University’s site called “A Fair(y) Use Tale” mashes up all your Disney favorites to humorously and effectively explain copyright law.

The Jokers New Visage

From darkhorizons.com:

As we knew on Thursday, a viral marketing effort had begun for “The Dark Knight” with a website serving as a political ad for Aaron Eckharts character of Harvey Dent campaigning for Gotham District Attorney in the upcoming “Batman Begins” sequel.

Now, over the weekend, Joker cards were “found” spread all over a comic book store in Southern California with the words “Ha Ha Ha I Believe in Harvey Dent Too.” A few hours later, up went the website ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com which results in the same promo image seemingly defaced by the Joker.

Cute, but nothing of note really. An input box asked for users to submit their e-mail address, and those who did received a link with co-ordinates. Once entered, each co-ordinate removed a 1×1 pixel from an image – an image that seems to be Heath Ledgers new look as The Joker in the film.

Fresno Bee Monday, May 21, 2007 – National Raisin Co. in Fowler, Calif., is hoping to take advantage of a new emphasis by Walt Disney Co. on healthier foods and will soon sell snack packs that showcase such characters as Mickey Mouse, Lilo & Stitch, Nemo and the Pirates of the Caribbean. The specially packaged fruit will be sold in grocery stores nationwide, said Jane Asmar, director of corporate accounts for the family-run company and daughter of one of its three founders, Krikor Bedrosian.

Asmar said Disney representatives approached National during a trade show in Chicago in late 2005, showing an interest in pairing Disney images with healthful snacks.

In exchange, National pays a licensing fee. Neither Asmar nor Disney representatives would state the cost or length of the licensing agreement.

Disney Adventures

From northjersey.com:

May 20, 2007 – Arenal Volcano loomed smoking in front of us. Trees rife with orchids, ferns and bromeliads stretched for miles below our wooden platform in the clouds. But my attention was glued on my 8-year-old daughter, Annie, as she was strapped into a harness more than 660 feet above the rain forest floor on our third day in Costa Rica. A thin, steel zip line was snapped to her gear.

She jumped. As her pulley sped down the line linked to a platform 2,475 feet away, my firstborn receded into the distance with a heart-sinking “zzzzzzing.” My solace: This was a Disney-orchestrated trip, part of the new series of family adventures fanning out around the world. I knew this was no theme park, but surely Disney safety inspectors and a team of tort-minded lawyers had examined every bolt and screw in this series of platforms and cables. Right?
