This morning marked the debut on the “Tronorail,” one of Walt Disney World’s monorails wrapped in artwork promoting the upcoming Disney film, “Tron: Legacy.” The artwork features the iconic light cycles from the film (and the original “Tron”), leaving painted light trails behind.

The repainted monorail is making its way around the Epcot monorail track, which runs back and forth between Epcot and the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Here is a video of the Tronorail approaching Epcot, making its way through the theme park, pulling into the monorail station, and exiting to head back to the TTC:

If you want to catch a glimpse of the Tronorail in action, be prepared to wait. The Epcot line was running 3 monorails today, so the above 3-minute video took me nearly 2 hours to shoot, waiting 15-20 minutesbetween each appearance of the Tron monorail. But it was totally worth it.

In its latest promo video for the Harry Potter-themed theme park land, Universal calls the area “‘the most incredible theme park experience ever.” That’s a big statement to live up to.

The claim was made in the newest promo video released by Universal Orlando showing “Potter” actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint (among others) filming for the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride that will be part of the Wizarding World:

A strangely mesmerizing music video for this song has shown up on YouTube, including shots of Disneyland Paris’ Main Street and castle, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear and Woody, and a bunch of random girls stepping in and out of frame.

When Disney says they like to honor those who have helped make their movies, television shows, and theme parks so successful, they’re not kidding.

On March 11, 2010, the songwriting Sherman Brothers were honored at Disneyland by receiving their own window on Main Street USA - a tribute bestowed upon only the most worthy contributors to Disney history.

As part of the roughly 45-minute ceremony, the Sherman Brothers were praised by, amongst others, Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis and former Imagineer and Walt Disney’s speech writer Marty Sklar. But the best entertainment came in the form of two actors who emerged as the lead characters (mother and father) from Disney’s Carousel of Progress attraction. They hilariously performed a fantastic medley of some of the Sherman Brothers’ biggest hits from Disney’s theme parks and beyond.

Finally, after unveiling the new window, Richard Sherman spoke and performed “Feed the Birds,” a song from “Mary Poppins” and Walt Disney’s favorite. It was a touching moment that no one in attendance will soon forget.

O’Brien is calling the tour “The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour,” referencing his much-publicized non-competition agreement that he has with NBC-Universal as part of his departure from the network.

Many believe Coco, as fans have been calling him, will return to the airwaves when his noncompete expires, but until then 32 cities across the country will be treated to his antics on stage.

Tour dates begin in Eugene, OR on April 12 and conclude in Atlanta, GA on June 14.

Tickets, and a tour poster (seen here) based off of artwork from a fan who rallied behind O’Brien during the recent late night war, can be found at the new web site: TeamCoco.com.

I hope they add a Florida date or two to the tail end of the tour as I’d love to see this act in person.

Already being unofficially dubbed the “Tron-o-rail,” this artwork could be seen at Walt Disney World as early as some time this month (March), though the “Tron: Legacy” film does not hit theaters until Dec. 2010.

At today’s shareholders meeting, Disney CEO Bob Iger also mentioned that a Tron TV series and video games are in development.

The new event is called “Destination D” and it will be held exclusively for D23 Members on Sept. 24-25, 2010 at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

“Destination D” will alternate annually with the D23 Expo.

The first event, called “DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55″ will take D23 Members on a journey through the design, creation, debut and magical history of the world’s first Disney theme park. The first DESTINATION D will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.

DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 will offer two full days of special presentations, panels, screenings and guest speakers that let fans meet and talk with key figures in Disneyland’s history. Future DESTINATION D events will explore other important aspects of Disney’s creative legacy.

“We’re very excited to also be creating an entirely new event with DESTINATION D, which will bring Disney’s fascinating history to D23 Members in ways no other Disney fan can experience,” said Steven Clark, head of D23. “There’s nowhere on earth quite as special as Disneyland, and we want fans to see it as they never have before.”

The first “Destination D” event will include:

· “Disneyland: The Way We Were” – Disney’s Chief Archivist Dave Smith will look back at highlights from Disneyland history;

· “Disney Undiscovered” – An exploration of never-built projects and attractions developed for Disneyland;

· “23 on 55” – The Walt Disney Archives celebrates Disneyland’s 55th anniversary;

· “Weird Disney” – A showcase for some of the quirky, little-known facts, places, people and ideas that even the most avid fan might not know.

More details on the programming and events planned for DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 – as well as details about the 2011 D23 EXPO – will be available soon at www.disney.com/D23. Tickets will go on sale early this summer.

At the 2010 Disney Shareholders meeting, CEO Bob Iger announced that beginning tomorrow, 3/11/10, a new annual pass option will be available allowing guests unlimited access to all six Disney theme parks within the United States. It will be called the Premier Passport. No pricing is available yet.

The price for the new Premier Passport is $700. Upgrades for current passholders are available.

Here are the perks for Walt Disney World:

* Unlimited admission for a period of one year to all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, including park hopping privileges
* Unlimited admission to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks
* Unlimited admission to DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (valid only on event days; some events require an additional admission charge) and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course (greens fee only. Tee time reservations are required and subject to availability)
* Parking at all four Theme Parks
* Subscription to Mickey Monitor, a collectible Passholder-only publication

And at Disneyland Resort:

* Unlimited admission to both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Parks for a period of one year, including park hopping privileges
* Parking at any pay-on-entry parking lot
* Subscription to Backstage Pass.
* Complimentary subscription to Disney’s Family Fun Magazine (one per household)

The new Premier Passport will be automatically sent to all who currently own annual passes to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

There will be no blackout dates for the Premiere Passport.

The Premier Passport will be valid for entry into Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks as well as Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure theme parks.

At Disney’s annual Shareholders meeting today, CEO Bob Iger officially announced that there will not be a D23 Expo in 2010.

The next D23 Expo will be held in Anaheim, Calif. on Aug. 19-21, 2011.

Tickets will be available on Aug. 19, 2010, one year before the 2011 D23 Expo begins.

Last year’s first-ever D23 Expo was an enormous gathering in Anaheim, bringing thousands of Disney fans together to witness announcements, presentations, and other special events.
