Video and Pictures from Universal’s Mardi Gras

library-7504.jpg

I attended Mardi Gras at Universal Studios last Saturday. The parade was great as usual and the Huey Lewis and The News concert was great. Huey and the boys still got it.
I took pictures and video of the parade and concert if you’d like to see them. Links below.

Back to the Future still open

backtothefuture.jpg
I was at Universal Studios last Saturday night and noticed that despite its rumored demise, the Back To The Future ride is still open. I’ve heard it’s running at half capacity, and that seems to be true since the night I was there the wait was 45 minutes for standby, and 20 minutes with a Express Pass. That’s the first time I’ve seen a time listed for a Fast Pass or Express Pass line.

In today’s Orlando Sentinel they interview Universal’s president, Bill Davis. When asked about the future of the ride, he says, “Back to the Future is up and operating today, as it has been. There is some truth to the fact that we’re looking at changing that out at some point. We can’t really talk about what that might be. But it has been a great attraction for us. We’re very happy with it. We’ll just have to see what the future brings.”

Pin trading at Universal

photo-1.jpg
I don’t know if this is new or not, but I picked up a flyer yesterday at Universal Studios Florida with information on pin trading. I’ve seen pins for sale at Universal for a while now, but I’ve never seen anything about pin trading or anyone actually doing it. Looks like they are following Disney’s lead.

I found some of the rules interesting.
• Only two pins may be traded with each team member
• The pins must be: made of metal; represent a licensed Universal event, location, character, attraction or icon; and have the official pin trading copyright stamp.
• No money or gifts may be exchanged for pins.
• Name pins and lanyards may not be traded with team members.

Universal Nascar Cafe open, Blue Man walkway progressing

Newly reopened Nascar Cafe
I stopped in for a bite at the remodeled Nascar Cafe at Universal Florida’s CityWalk on Sunday. It’s really nice looking. It was totally gutted and redone. The main change is that they now have the game room upstairs and the dining is all downstairs.

Walkway to the Blue Man Group show
The new walkway for the Blue Man Group show is coming along. They also have the studio (one of the old Nickelodeon buildings) painted blue.

Take a Universal Christmas survey

Universal Orlando has a survey up listing four possible Christmas festivities they are thinking of doing this year.
Let them know if you would you be interested in an expanded Grinchmas, a Rudolph and Frosty theme, a Rockefeller Center theme with ice skating, or a Shrekmas theme.

Go to http://www.visitorsatisfaction.com/holiday2007 for more details and to let them know what you think of their ideas.
