Submit your SeaWorld pics and win
From seaworld.com:
We are interested in any and all photographs you took at any one of our three SeaWorld Parks, whether of shows, rides, attractions or, more importantly, of you and your family and/or friends enjoying yourselves.
SeaWorld is looking for pictures you took at one of their parks for a new part of their Web site. If your picture is one of the first 1,000 chosen for the site, you’ll win tickets to the park.
They are thinking of expanding it to videos and stories of your SeaWorld visit, but for now it’s just pictures.
2006 theme park attendance data released
From themeparkinsider.com:
As expected, Disney laid the smack down in 2006, posting strong attendance gains while Six Flags and Universal parks largely declined or remained flat.
Here are the world’s top 10, for 2006:
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, 16.64 million, up 3 percent
Disneyland, Anaheim 14.73 million, up 1.2 percent
Tokyo Disneyland, 12.90 million
Tokyo DisneySea, 12.10 million
Disneyland Paris, 10.60 million
Epcot, 10.46 million, up 5.5 percent
Disney-MGM Studios, 9.10 million, up 5 percent
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 8.91 million, up 8.6 percent
Universal Studios Japan, 8.50 million
Everland, South Korea, 7.50 millionAnd the top 10 U.S. theme parks, by attendance:
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, 16.64 million, up 3.0 percent
Disneyland, Anaheim, 14.73 million, up 1.2 percent
Epcot, 10.46 million, up 5.5 percent
Disney-MGM Studios, 9.10 million, up 5.0 percent
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 8.91 million, up 8.6 percent
Universal Studios Florida, 6.00 million, up 1.2 percent

SeaWorld Orlando, 5.74 million, up 2.5 percent
Universal’s Islands of Adventure, 5.30 million, down 4.8 percent
Universal Studios Hollywood, 4.70 million, flat
I’m surprised that SeaWorld and Universal Studios had more visitors than Islands of Adventure. I always thought Islands seemed more crowded than Studios.
TweetSeaWorld videos
From youtube.com:
I went to SeaWorld last night. I don’t go often enough to know what’s new, but I did take a couple of pictures and a bunch of videos.

These touch screen computers were set up by Dolphin Cove. They let you look up pictures they took of you with the dolphins and see them right on the screen. I tried looking up a picture they took of us earlier in the day by the entrance but it wouldn’t come up. I guess it’s just for pics taken at Dolphin Cove. All theme parks should have these so you don’t have to wait in line to see your pics.

One of the new children’s rides they’re working on. Nothing for me to get excited about, but more for the little ones is good.

SeaWorld announces new kid’s rides
From orlandosentinel.com:
TweetThree new children’s rides and a new show tied to Sesame Street will be debuting at SeaWorld Orlando this spring, the theme park announced Monday.
The show, called “Elmo and the Bookaneers,” combines singing, dancing and a swashbuckling-pirate story, featuring Sesame Street characters.
The rides, Ocean Commotion, The Flying Fiddler and the Sea Carousel are being built in SeaWold’s children’s area, called Shamu’s Happy Harbor.
SeaWorld announces Aquatica, launches Web site

SeaWorld released information on their new water park today. It’s supposed to be ready to open spring of 2008. The Web site is www.aquaticabyseaworld.com.
The coolest feature is the clear tube slides that go down into the water, where dolphins are swimming by. There’s also a large beach area, two wave pools with different surf on each one, a large kids area and a bunch of different slides.
