365 Adventures in 2011: Day 349 – Winning Santa

I play claw machines every once in a while, losing most of the time. But this time, on my very first try, I successfully snagged a Santa puppet! And it was just in time, as Santa himself was due to be riding through our neighborhood, escorted by police cars and a fire truck, just a couple hours later. It’s actually the second Santa plush from a claw machine that I have, though the other was won for me by my uncle many years ago.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 348 – Pac-Man Battle Royale

Yep, another visit to Dave and Buster’s half-price Wednesday. This time, a new game has arrived! I first played Pac-Man Battle Royale at the IAAPA Expo in 2010 and am happy to see it finally make its way somewhere I can play it more often. It’s a fun head-to-head version of Pac-Man where you can eat your opponents, up to four simultaneous players. (Michelle ate me and I lost.)

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 347 – Goodbye Jaws

To say goodbye to the classic attraction, I rode Jaws six times in a row at Universal Studios, recording video, audio, and taking pictures all the way through. I’m working on a full tribute to the ride and its surrounding Amity area, which will close Jan. 2, 2012 to make way for something new. Whether it’s Harry Potter, Transformers, Madagascar, or something else, I will always miss Jaws, if only a little. It’s a ride I’ve enjoyed for the past 20 years or so.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 346 – Coming soon to a theater near me

This is my home theater projector. 720p HD. LCD. It has treated me well over the last 6 years or so. But now a new one is on the way, with newer technologies built in. It should arrive early next week. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it, but if I do, it’ll be a nice early Christmas present for myself. More to come. (Anyone want to buy my old one?)

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 345 – More Dripping Icicles

Our dripping icicle lights looked great in our front tree. But they only filled about a quarter of the branches. So Michelle bought 4 more strands and we hung those, filling most of the tree. And now it looks three times better! This photo doesn’t do it justice, as it just looks like the icicles are all lit up. But they do drip downward in a pattern, sparkling along the way. We’ve had a few neighborhood compliments on them already.
