365 Adventures in 2011: Day 122 – Intergalactic visit with C-3PO and R2-D2

I was going to post this as my photo of the day on Saturday… but I figured my new car made for a better picture. So then I was going to post it yesterday… but something slightly more important happened in the world.

Thus here I am today, on a typical Monday with little of importance happening, posting a photo that was actually taken two days ago in Jacksonville at the Star Tours 3D preview. It’s me with C-3PO and R2-D2. You can see more pictures and some video from this preview event here.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 115 – LEGO Pirates make ye believe in ghost stories, savvy?

Over the weekend, I picked up a couple of new Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO kits during Toys R Us’ buy one, get one 50% off sale. Tonight I built Isla de Muerta from the first Pirates film, including minifigs of Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, Skeleton Barbossa, and Elizabeth Swan. The kit is decent but the minifigs are really the best part.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 83 – Entering the Grid

I received my review copy of Tron: Legacy and the original TRON today! It’s the 5-disc set that includes Tron: Legacy Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy as well as a disc for the first film. Though I don’t personally own a 3D Blu-ray player or 3D TV, I do have a Best Buy right down the street with plenty of employees who were more than happy to let me watch pieces of the film using their 3D equipment. At home, I watched half of the many bonus features and will soon dive into the movie itself before posting a complete review next week. But I will say that I’m quite impressed with everything I’ve seen so far.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 76 – Tron sale!

Michelle showed me the latest Target sale ad featuring a Tron: Legacy 3-man Light Jet toy that I didn’t even know existed. It’s on sale for $25. So after a quick trip down the street, it is now mine. But… it’s HUGE and I have no idea where I’m going to put it. No room on the Tron shelf!

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 63 – Relive the ’90s with Disney Adventures magazine

While I was born at the beginning of the 1980s, the most influential time for me was definitely the early ’90s. And now I can relive the days of DuckTales, Rick Moranis, Steve Urkel, Wayne’s World, and the Fresh Prince courtesy of the now-extinct Disney Adventures magazine:

Big thanks to Pam who sent all these old issues to me! They even include the very first few issues of the magazine in GREAT condition. I look forward to flipping through them all, remembering a time before Britney Spears took over for rock music and before reality TV dominated the air waves.

And as a bonus, she sent me a few other fun and random surprises, also pictured here. Surprises are great, especially when they’re toys.
