I’m amazed it took this long for a company to plan to release a figure like this. It’s the perfect to any office cubicle and comes complete with a mini red Swingline stapler. Of course, you can also buy a full-size stapler here along with a whole bunch of other Initech-branded stuff.

Darth Vader hot-air balloon

20070417b_1_bg.jpg

From starwars.com:

Lambert had already been thinking of building a Darth Vader hot air balloon when FanWars leader Nicolas Lelong (TK-2054) first brought up the idea. “For me, it was more of a joke and a fantasy, but Nicolas took it seriously and found the idea wonderful,” Lambert says. “He made contact with Lucasfilm in order to try to get their agreement.”

I’d love to see this in person. What’s really cool is that the sound the fire makes sounds just like Vader breathing.

Netflix Under Pressure from Blockbuster

From imdb.com:

Online movie renters Netflix saw its shares tumble nearly 10 percent to $21.70 Wednesday after saying that it expects to end up with about 7.3 million subscribers by the end of the year, 13 percent fewer than it had forecast in January. Shares in the company have fallen 26 percent over the past year. Netflix apparently was hit hard by a rival service from Blockbuster that allows customers to receive movies in the mail, then exchange them in Blockbuster stores. Reporting on Netflix’s woes, today’s (Thursday) Los Angeles Times commented that Blockbuster “is finally getting some payback in its battle with rival Netflix.”

‘Pirates’ Premiere Tickets For Sale

From usatoday.com:

If you’ve stashed away a pirate’s booty of $1,500, you can book passage to Disneyland’s May 19 world premiere for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Disneyland, the host for all three Pirates premieres, is selling tickets to the public in hopes of raising more than $3 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Twelve hundred tickets will be available, starting today, at www.piratespremiere.com.

Very tempting… but $1,500 is a bit steep, even when donated to charity.
