WEEKEND WEB: Lucas Francis Studios – Theme Park and Movie Prototypes and Merchandise

Here is a Web site guaranteed to entertain you for at least a few seconds this weekend:
Lucas Francis Studios – lucasfrancisstudio.com
If you’re a fan of sci-fi movies or Disneyland, there’s a good chance that you’ll want one something that Lucas Francis Studios created the prototype for. Here are a few of my favorite examples:
This was a prototype made using the Polar Lights model kit and through many hours of trial and error Lucas Francis Studios managed to make this work with ease. This was a cool concept designed for the Universal parks but never picked up due to the demise of the Back to the Future ride and overall costs of production. To my knowledge we are the only company to ever make a floating Delorean prototype.
Link (They also created a hoverboard prototype)
A couple of Haunted Mansion prototypes that I would have loved to have seen hit the market (click the images to find out more):
Ever wanted to build your own army of T-800 endoskeletons from Terminator 2? These life-sized replicas should do the trick:
Sideshow Collectibles
and Lucas Francis Studios are proud to present the Fully Licensed Terminator 2 Endoskeleton.Created by Stan Winston Studio, the Endoskeleton is one of the most recognizable characters ever created for film. This 1-1 scale replica was molded from screen used original Endoskeleton parts and stands over six feet tall. The Endoskeleton has been offered before, but never with the level of detail created by Lucas Francis Studio. This replica was cast from new masters, new molds and uses new techniques.
More Terminator 2 products and prototypes were made including an Endoskeleton arm (which I own the smaller version of) and a T-1000 set with plenty of liquid metal excitement.
Any fan of Mel Brooks’ Spaceballs has wondered why Dark Helmet’s collection of action figures was never released. It looks like John Francis Studios made their own Dark Helmet prototype figure:

“No, sir – I didn’t see you playing with your dolls again!”
There are many more interesting prototypes to be found throughout the site, including a Disneyland 3D sculpted puzzle, Frank the Pug from Men in Black, and a Rocketeer rocket pack.
TweetParkTunes.com Now Live!
ParkTunes.com is an all-new Web site that I’ve created devoted to sharing songs and Disney music loops found within Disney theme parks, resorts, and other attractions worldwide.
The songs found within the Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World in Florida, Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, and Disneyland Resort Paris in France are some of the most interesting and ear-pleasing musical works around. The music found within these areas are both created by The Walt Disney Co. and, often surprisingly, by popular everday musical artists.
Now, with the introduction of online music stores, individual songs are readily (and legally) available for download, generally at no more than $0.99 each. Disney has even begun releasing some of their official homegrown songs online.
The goal of ParkTunes is to bring together links to all available legal downloads of Disney theme park-related songs.
Whether you’re looking for music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, or any of your other favorite attractions, this is the ultimate site for you!
Check it out now at ParkTunes.com
TweetDigg.com in Chaos. [Update]
If any of you are regulars at Digg.com, you may have noticed a revolt going on, that has just taken a huge burst the last couple of hours.
It all started when the mods at Digg.com deleted a story which contained a code that broke the encryption on HD-DVDs (It’s Microsoft, you knew there was a way). Anyways, after this occured, they began censoring comments containing the code, etc.
It has turned the once ‘For the people, by the people’ website that digg held into complete chaos. Now people are creating stories with the code, and the entire front page is covered, take a look yourself.
Article taken from: http://yro.slashdot.org/
“Digg is imploding today. Literally. The site’s million plus users have turned on Digg’s management, covering the entire site with an HD-DVD encryption key that the moderators were fighting to remove. You can’t even submit a story right now, and frequent 404 errors mean that Digg is actually Digging itself, with too many votes and submissions to handle.”
Pretty crazy if you ask me…
[Update]
Seems like Wikipedia has also taken down the HD-DVD and ‘The Numbers’ sites from being edited…
From: Wired.com
TweetWired blogged the cracked processing key for HD-DVD (you’ve seen it: “09 F9 11 02 …”) nearly three months ago, but The Number’s power still grows. Today, the Wikipedia page named for it has been locked to prevent the former secret from being posted again. The page on HD-DVD is locked, too, to keep out The Number. Wikipedia’s isn’t the only takedown: Digg earlier removed what’s been said to be the site’s all-time top post.
What a waste of time. Piracy is bad, yes, but does anyone really think the magic sequence is going to vanish from the Internet, or even become hard to find? Throw in the towel, folks.
Google’s favorite videos
From google.com:
Dear Google Video uploaders, we are temporarily unable to accept new uploads. In the meantime, here are some of our favorite videos!
I just went to Google to upload a video I took of a wedding over the weekend and got the above message. I’m glad it was down – those videos are great, especially the one with the people singing the video game songs. But I couldn’t figure out the song they were singing while sticking their arms out and bending down. The song is very familiar to me but I just can’t place it. Help. The ones I recognized were Super Mario Bros., Mortal Kombat and Zelda.
TweetMusopen
Free Public Domain Music – Welcome to Musopen.com
This is for any of you classical music fans out there! Since most classical music is old enough to have no royalties on it, if a college orchestra will perform it for free, the music can be distributed completely freely.
A nice sized collection of this music can be found here, and they all sound quite good. If you like classical music at all, try it!
On a side note, if you think my posts are stupid or boring, tell me! I am open to suggestions on what my subject area should be.
