365 Adventures in 2011: Day 284 – Lady Luck comes out to play
Changes are afoot at Halloween Horror Nights. They decided to bring Lady Luck out of her scare zone tonight, offering a new photo op near the front of the park. And judging from the smiles on everyone’s faces while posing with her and the roulette wheel of death, it’s a success. I was told it was only a test for tonight, but I have a feeling she’ll stay out there for the rest of the event in the coming weeks. The photo op really helps tie the commercials and promotional materials in with the event itself, instead of tucking her away in a dark alley.

Yes, today I bought yet another zombie. This one was 25% off at Party City so I couldn’t resist. (And I may have bought a couple of “melting” skeleton ghouls too…) But the best part was after I assembled the zombie when our cat decided to be curious and sniff the zombie’s cloak, all the way around the bottom. She has no fear of the undead.

Slowly getting ready for Halloween, I unpacked another zombie today. This one appears to be climbing out of a grave and was purchased from Target a couple weeks ago. There will definitely be a different vibe outside my house on October 31st this year. No gore, no torture, just eeriness and moaning undead. Hoping for a more subtle, creepy vibe rather than a loud in-your-face scary one.

If anyone wonders why I keep going back to Halloween Horror Nights as often as possible, this picture I took tonight should sum it up nicely. There is nothing on this planet more entertaining than watching others get scared by chainsaw guys and other creepy characters. And taking pictures of them getting scared is quite fun too…

I finally finished decorating the interior of our house for Halloween, including the annual Hallway of Doom. I picked up quite a few additions to the decor this year, like the glow-in-the-dark skeleton and sticky bats seen here. I also added a handful of decorations outside that can stay there for the rest of October. The rest of the outside fun gets set up on Halloween day, usually finishing a few seconds before the first trick-or-treater arrives. But that’s still a few weeks away. I’ll try to post more pictures of our inside decorations soon.
