365 Adventures in 2011: Day 119 – Giant mushroom at The Melting Pot
Orlando Restaurant Week is here and The Melting Pot is offering a great deal. We normally can’t leave that restaurant for under $60, ordering cheese fondue, beef/chicken entree, and chocolate fondue dessert. But tonight, during Restaurant Week, we got all of that for just $35. GREAT deal.
One of my favorite parts of any trip to The Melting Pot is packing mushroom caps with their yummy cream cheese filling and frying it in batter. And on tonight’s trip, I got the biggest mushroom I’ve ever seen at the restaurant. It was at least 2 inches in diameter. Here it is after I fried it and before I ate it:
I’M STUFFED.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 118 – Cheetah Hunt awaits
In a world dominated by electronic communication, it’s nice when an event invitation arrives by regular mail. I’m excited for the opening of the new Cheetah Hunt roller coaster at Busch Gardens next month and receiving things like this in the mail is always a nice surprise. I can’t wait to ride! (Food and entertainment are good too…)
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 117 – Cheese heaven
Ignore my apathetic shirt. I was in cheese heaven at Whole Foods tonight. Despite this supermarket being open for quite a while, tonight was my first visit. And it most definitely won’t be my last. I left with only a small $2 wedge of Australian cheddar this time, as Michelle and I were there to gather ingredients for a specific recipe. But next time… cheese shopping spree!
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 113 – Boba at Lollicup aka Chewy
While out doing various things today, Michelle had the brilliant idea to go get drinks at Lollicup, which recently changed its name to Chewy. I had a watermelon slush with boba, which are little tapioca balls that sit at the bottom of the drink and are slurped up through a large straw. So refreshing on a hot day and the boba are fun to eat! They have two locations in the Orlando area, so check em out if you haven’t.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 99 – Monte Cristo with a twist
Now that I’ve returned, I can share my weekend activities. Michelle and I took a weekend trip to the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas. We left Friday, directly for the airport after making a stop at Downtown Disney to buy the Scrooge Vinylmation. So I posted the below picture of my dinner at the Atlas Bar & Grill in the Atlantis casino, though I didn’t say where I was at the time. It’s good to sneak away once in a while! MANY more photos from our vacation still to come.
The sandwich pictured below was great! It’s a twist on the Monte Cristo that I love so much at Disneyland, but this version is dipped in egg and baked, rather than dipped in batter and fried.
