365 Adventures in 2011: Day 273 – Lights on at Halloween Horror Nights
I took Universal Orlando’s “Unmasking the Horror” tour for the first time, which brought me through three Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses: The Forsaken, Winter’s Night, and my favorite of the year – Nevermore. While descending into the madness of Edgar Allan Poe, I stopped to pose for a photo in the room inspired by The Pit and the Pendulum. Fortunately, I escaped with my innards intact.

365 Adventures in 2011: Day 272 – 40 years of Walt Disney World
This morning I watched as Walt Disney World celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special presentation in front of Cinderella Castle. I also nabbed the one-day-only commemorative button and guide map. I wanted to get a photo in front of the large banner they had hanging from the castle during the morning show, but they took it down quickly after the presentation concluded, so this train station one had to do instead.
365 Adventures in 2011: Day 271 – Room For One More
Disney celebrated the 40th anniversary of Walt Disney World’s Haunted Mansion with a special dinner event called Room For One More, which included an incredible live organist just like the ghostly one seen inside the ride. As the organist was guided away from the stage by the caretaker during a mid-meal break, I had someone snap a photo of me with them and the organ in the background. Later, I stuck around after the event had ended and got a better photo with the organist, which only a handful of people did, as it wasn’t really part of the event. He was kind enough to pose for a few pictures though before he vanished.
365 Adventures in 2011: Day 270 – Trick or Meet-Up
Yep, it’s me and Dr. Facilier again. But this time it’s not from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but rather a Haunted Mansion-themed Disney Parks Blog meet-up. The free event included a variety of entertainment, with some characters out for meet-and-greets. And I simply couldn’t pass up the chance to get another picture with Facilier. I think he even remembered me from last time. Perhaps now I have friends on the other side too…
365 Adventures in 2011: Day 265 – Zombies Live Here
I entered the Dark Side of the Gardens at Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream, which was packed with zombies. I’ve never seen the streets at this event more “alive” with entertainment. Good stuff. The new haunted houses were quite fun as well, but the streets were really the highlight of the night.
