Steve Jobs and Bill Gates To Appear Together at All Things Digital

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, the seminal figures in the development of the personal computer, will make a rare joint appearance at the “D: All Things Digital” conference this year. The two men will jointly discuss the history and future of the digital revolution in an unrehearsed, unscripted, onstage conversation on May 30. All I have to say is:

“Hello, I’m a Mac” Steve Jobs,

“And I am a PC” Bill Gates

Quantum strikes again, charging iPhone touchscreen infringement

From engadget.com

It’s not just Apple’s ubiquitous click-wheel that Quantum Research is bothering Apple about these days, Quantum is also fussing iphone-small-right.jpg about the iPhone’s touchscreen technology. “We will be looking very carefully at the iPhone,” says Duncan Bryan, licensing director at QR. And wouldn’t you know: “The description of the iPhone suggests it uses a rear-surface touch screen, and has proximity sensing which can tell if it is held to the ear. That’s a QR capability.” No formal lawsuit has been filed yet, but based on Apple’s complete denial and counterclaims of QR’s December 2005 click-wheel allegations, we’re guessing it won’t be backing down on this one anytime soon. Apparently this “charge transfer capacitive sensing” stuff has been licensed to Motorola and was invented by QR’s founder and CEO Hal Philipp. Usually we’d be content to sit back and watch, but all these Apple-related lawsuits and copycats are getting a little tried — remember those good old fashioned RIM / NTP days?

I think all these companies just sit all day and see “Hmmm, who will we sue today”. First the name iPhone was copyrighted and patented by Linksys and now this. Come one people, we just want the phone, we don’t care who got what.

Leopard Making an Early Debut?

From gizmodo.com

If you’ve been longing for some Apple news, consider this your dose for the day. The folks at T3 are predicting that Apple will release their new Leopard OS as early as next month (it was initially expected to debut later in the spring). New versions of iLife and iWork will also be announced, though personally I’m more eager to see what (if any) hardware will debut alongside it.

In my opinion, I am happy that Leopard is coming out. Tiger was released not too long ago, but the new features such as TimeMachine, etc. are really going to make Mac users happy and might bring in some Windows users along for the ride. iLife and iWork have always been great applications in helping you accomplish your tasks and projects. I really can’t wait for 10.5 to come out.

iPhone Prices Revealed?

iPhone Plans?

From looprumors.com:

Apple iPhone Review posts an image of a supposed ad that shows rate plans for the upcoming iPhone.

If true, it appears the iPhone rate plans from Cingular may be the same as Cingular’s current plan options: $39.99 a month for 450 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile calling, and 5,000 night and weekend minutes. The data plans will start at $4.99 a month for 200 messages OR a $19.99 a month data plan for 200 messages plus unlimited Internet and Visual Voicemail.

I am going insane for an iPhone. I don’t want one, I NEED one. Hopefully this image found is true, but take with a grain of salt for now.
