365 Adventures in 2011: Day 316 – Walt Disney Family Museum
It was tough to pick just one photo for this day, as I did so many new things. I visited the Golden Gate Bridge, the Yoda statue/fountain at Lucasfilm, the Palace of Fine Arts, and chef Hubert Keller’s Fleur de Lys restaurant. But the bulk of the day was spent in the Presidio to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum, which was a fantastic experience that deserves more than a single day’s visit. I even learned a thing or three I didn’t know about Disney. It’s a must-see for any Disney fan interested in knowing more about Walt and his family.

I previewed an exhibit at the Orange County Regional History Center showcasing years of artwork from Universal Orlando, with many excellent Halloween Horror Nights pieces. It was great to get a bit more HHN fun even after this year’s event has ended. And it’s a wonderful exhibit that’s sticking around through April. More info here.

For the first time in 6 or 7 months, I got a haircut. I know it’s been that long because I looked back through all these daily photos to find the last time my hair vanished and I think it was April. People wonder why I have long hair. This is why. It’s just easier. I’ll probably go another 6 months before my next big chop too.
Tweet365 Adventures in 2011: Day 312 – Making Waves at SeaWorld
I attended SeaWorld’s “Waves of the Future” expansion announcement, which they revealed details of their upcoming new attractions, Turtle Trek, Freshwater Oasis, and Antarctica. I’m looking forward to the latter the most, though details are sketchy at this point. But the media event itself was quite entertaining and fun, with SeaWorld putting on a great show set in multiple rooms within the Ports of Call area of the park. The first room “transported” us (via projections and lighting) to a tropical paradise and underwater. Then we were surprised to move through a bright blue tunnel into a room filled with ice sculptures and a few penguins for the Antarctica announcement. It’s always fun to see penguins up close and I suspect the new ride for Antarctica will feature these flightless birds in a fun new way when it opens in 2013.
