Highlights and photos from Toy Fair 2011 – The Walking Dead, Terminator, Duke Nukem, Pirates LEGOs, BioShock, Ghostbusters, and more
I visited Toy Fair 2011 today in New York from the comfort of my office in Florida by way of coverage of the annual event from Collider.com and ActionFigs.com.
I wish I had been there in person, but since I wasn’t, sifting through photo galleries was the next best thing. And I pulled out pictures of the toys, action figures, and other fun things that I’ll most likely be buying when they hit the market soon.
So here’s my vicarious photo report from Toy Fair 2011 of what I’m most looking forward to…
Terminator
I have quite the collection of Terminator 2 figures already, so I’m quite happy to see NECA coming out with a couple of Arnold from the original Terminator as well. Plus more fun sculpts of the T-1000 are always fun too:
Ghostbusters
Having purchased every amazing new Ghostbusters figure from Matty Collector recently, I’m thrilled to see some good variations and new characters coming up, including Louis Tully with multiple heads and the grey lady / library ghost:
BioShock
I’m a big fan of the BioShock series of games and am greatly looking forward to the third installment. As with the properties listed above, I’ve bought all the BioShock figures so far and can’t wait to get my hands on a Big Daddy that lights up and a few others:
The Walking Dead
While I haven’t read the comic version, AMC’s show The Walking Dead was fantastic and it’s far too long until the next season is going to be done… but at least it looks like some great figures are on the way, both inspired by the comic as well as the actors from the show. Toy Fair offered some early looks:
Gremlins
The series of four Gremlins figures that have been released must have been a hit (we own them all) because quite a few more are on the way:
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is the next big franchise to come to the world of LEGO. I didn’t want to look too much into the line from On Stranger Tides, as I don’t want to ruin any of the upcoming fourth film, but here are a few LEGO sets from that film and the previous ones that look like fun:
LEGO Atlantis
I’ve enjoyed building a few LEGO Atlantis sets and am excited to see the City of Atlantis finally join the series:
Miscellaneous
A few other items caught my eye while browsing galleries from Toy Fair 2011, including a whole bunch of great Fraggle Rock puppets and plushes:
I own the old Scarface / Tony Montana / Al Pacino figure from Mezco, but it’s more of a stylized version of the character. Now it appears that NECA is coming out with a more realistic sculpt, in white and blue suits:
It’s incredible that Duke Nukem Forever is finally going to be released soon. It’s the longest-anticipated video game in history. And NECA has an awesome figure to go with it:
It couldn’t be Toy Fair without Star Wars and they had an impressive display of stormtroopers with Darth Vader:
Finally, I kinda liked this animated stylized version of Cobra Commander from GI Joe (or at least I assume that’s what it is…):
Having not actually attended Toy Fair, I’m sure there are plenty of other amazing new toys, action figures, and other goodies being shown off there. But this is what I was able to pull together from browsing Collider.com and ActionFigs.com. Be sure to visit those links to see their full galleries, including photos of hundreds more products. And if you find a favorite, post a link to it in the comments below!
