Remakes are more miss than hit, but judging from two new anime-style Thundercats cartoon images hitting the ‘net today, I think Warner Brothers could have a winner on their hands here – as long as it’s not TOO anime.

And they’ve certainly given the familiar ’80s characters a makeover.

Panthro looks more or less the same, though a bit more contemporary. But Lion-O looks far younger and more agile, Tygra apparently is now a G.I. Joe (Did Thundercats ever have guns?), and Cheetara – well, she has a bigger female presence than ever.

But I kinda like it. At least the Sword of Omens still looks identical, as does the iconic logo.
