Best new toys and collectibles at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con

Judging from the amount of toys showcased at Comic-Con, if I attended, I would probably spent most of my time staring at them wishing the release dates were sooner than later. Of course, that’s exactly what I’m doing here at home, so I suppose there’s really no difference. Anyway, here are my favorite toys, sculptures, and other collectibles that I’ve found photos of:

Ghostbusters from Mattel

I’m extremely excited to finally get my hands on some official Ghostbusters action figures. Egon comes out in just a couple of weeks followed by the rest over time. There’s even a figure of movie “villain” Walter Peck coming out, complete with containment unit accessory. It appears that the figures were guarded at Comic-Con by some Ghostbusters booth babes.

Video Games

There are certainly plenty of great video game-related figures and statues coming out including these from the Street Fighter series and Bioshock:

Movies

It looks like there’s no shortage of incredible movie figures and statues coming out. My favorite of the bunch are the wonderfully detailed aliens from Mars Attacks:

Some movie-based sculpts are so real they become creepy, like these two from Star Wars and Superman:

Lots of Terminator-related goodies at Comic-Con this year. Unfortunately, most revolve around Terminator: Salvation, which ended up being a pretty terrible movie. The sculpts look great though:

And here’s the obligatory life-size Terminator endoskeleton from Sideshow Collectibles. I’ve wanted this for 10-15 years. Too bad it’s $6,000.

For those like me who still think Michael Keaton was the best live-action Batman, here are a couple great collectibles:

Other random stuff

And here’s a random assortment of other noteworthy items including Cobra Commander, Pixar’s UP, Toy Story, the Wicked Queen from Snow White, Indiana Jones complete with crystal skull and infamous “nuked” fridge, Rizzo the Rat, Lion-O from Thundercats, and even a couple of figures from Jason and the Argonauts:

And last in the Toys/Collectibles category are these unique lightsaber chopsticks:
