Weird Al takes on Disney’s Jungle Cruise in his new song ‘Skipper Dan’

“Weird” Al Yankovic’s new song tells the tale of a man whose dream was to become a famous actor but instead ended up working on Disney’s Jungle Cruise ride. I have a feeling the story has happened more times in real life than many Jungle Skippers would like to admit.

Here’s the music video:

Skipper Dan

I’ve been a huge “Weird” Al fan since I was in elementary school and, as far as I can remember, this is the first time he’s written a song about a Disney attraction. It’s like two of my favorite worlds just collided… in a good way.

You can find “Weird” Al Yankovic online at his Web site and on Twitter.

    Yeah! Backside of water!!!!

  2. austin says:

reminds me a lot of fountains of wayne. i didn’t realize weird al did anything other than popular song parodies.

  3. fett101 says:

Weird Al always has original songs on his albums. (usually parodying a certain genre)

  4. colaboy29 says:

Yes, this is the first Weird Al song to talk about a ride at Disney. Very funny, Al! Can’t wait for the next album.

  5. David M. aka kirby_is_kyaan says:

Odd, he’s released at least one other single since his last album but no news on the next new album. Strange.

  6. colaboy29 says:

Well the new album is supposed to be called “Internet Leaks”, isn’t out? Maybe every song gets released this way.

  7. WedWay Bleu says:

It’s available for purchase as an mp3 on amazon.com. I just checked.

  8. Chris says:

  9. Dan says:

I like your comment Ricky- I felt like my worlds were colliding too- Al fan since elementary, Disney fan, AND- my name is Dan! I have the trifecta!

I like Weird Al. I worked on Jungle in 85~87. It is wonderful job! Not a career because of the pay, but hey, it’s great fun with great people.
A few technical notes. Only 24 cruises on an 8 hour shift (average). And we are skippers, not tour guides.
