WEEKEND WEB: Free Movie Screenings

I rarely go to movie theaters anymore. Prices are too high, seats are often uncomfortable, people are rude, and there are far too many technical difficulties to be found that ruin the movie-watching experience. However, I might put up with (some of) that if I receive offers for…
Free Movie Screenings
Thanks to @JeremiahDaws (Twitter link), I am now signed up on these two sites:
Both of these sites claim to provide free movie screening offers to their members, some even in advance of the films’ nationwide release dates.
In college, I used to receive free movie screening passes in my campus mailbox from time to time. I have no idea why, but I took advantage of them. Now, I hope that these two sites allow me to start seeing free movies again… as long as movie theater owners (and patrons) can clean up their acts and make the whole experience enjoyable.

“as long as movie theater owners (and patrons) can clean up their acts and make the whole experience enjoyable.”
They can’t.
That’s right. The only reason I no longer go to the theater anymore is because of rude moviegoers: the ones who continue to use their electronic devices, iPhones, cell phones, Blackberry’s, etc. during the movie. The ones that consistently talk throughout the film. The ones that bring young children in the theater that can’t sit still and be quiet and run around the theater like a playground. The ones who eat loudly, etc. Ughhhh.
Let us know how it works out for you and maybe we’ll sign-up also. And think of me if they offer you two tickets. ;-)
We have a free movie club that quite often has free preview screenings but I never go to them because they are at a specific time at night in the city so it is too inconvenient (and I don’t fancy taking the train home at 9pm).
The best time to go to cinemas here is during the day outside school vacations….
I’m a firm believer in the mid-week matinee. I’ve been to 10 movies this year, and I have never once had an annoying talker, heard a phone ring, or even a crying child (and I saw Monsters v. Aliens on a holiday!).
Maybe it’s just luck, but I’m on over two years of going to movies on this schedule, and it’s great. Plus it is cheaper.
Thanks for the shout out, Ricky!
Rob from the Screening Exchange gets me into movies so I can review them for my college newspaper before the film comes out…he’s very cool for doing this since they make a good appearance of usually screening out the press beforehand. Btw, according to him, the new Jonah Hill comedy is not playing as well as they predicted with males 18-24.
I thought it was really funny, though! The description is below:
Description: GET HIM TO THE GREEK is a new comedy starring Jonah Hill (Superbad) and Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) about an eager record company intern (Hill) who has two days to get a spoiled, hard-partying rock legend (Brand) from London to L.A.’s Greek Theater in time for the first stop of a $100 million dollar comeback tour.
The movie is directed by Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and will most likely be rated R.
