I thought them hiding was the exact comedy the movie needed. Come on, Ricky, give them some slack! They were only on Earth at that point for about an hour! They don't know whats what. And since when can a hero not be a fool at times? Them being flawed made them more human, and gave them more character. Transformers has had comedy through out all it's incarnations. Watch G1 and you will see hundreds of examples of the Autobots looking like morons. Who can forget when the Decepticons got "Drunk?" Was that any better or worse, or appropriate? Sure, it's not perfect, but it gets so trashed simply due to who directed it. It's a faithful adaptation and it was loads of fun. As much as I love Weird Al's "Dare to Be Stupid," it's totally out of place in that movie, as is Eric Idle's role. The film has many great moments, but that scene isn't one of them. I thought the new scene in question here (in Sam's bedroom) was definitely uncalled for. While I agree that Bay's Transformers was not a kid's movie, the "comedy" presented in that scene just wasn't funny. I thought the Autobots lurking outside his window throughout that sequence were completely out of character. They went from robot heroes to bumbling idiots in a matter of seconds. Not PG. Not G. And why did they put jokes like that in the movie? So other people would enjoy the movie besides fans. Hate to tell you but a lot of people thought it was funny. It was something unexpected, and that made it even better. And besides the original movie was terrible when you take nostalgia out of it. As much as I love it as a Transformers fan, it's horrible. It has bigger plot holes then anything in the Bay flick. And who thought it was a good idea to have Grimlock lock lips with a junkion? Who thought it was a good idea to invent Wheelie and Blur? (Thank goodness they made Blurr so much cooler in Animated.) Oh and who forget the wonderful eighties hair metal as Hot Rod fights random robot fish? IMO, Movie is better then G1. It was terrible. The animated movie is so much better than the flash for cash live action nonsense.
