Strong progress is being marked for SeaWorld Orlando’s next big roller coaster, the Manta, which is being built near the the entrance of the park, shown in first photo, at left, taken by the Sentinel late last week from SeaWorld’s Sky Tower.
Manta is set to open next summer, as a steel roller coaster that mixes a “gliding” experience like a manta ray with live marine life exhibits. The coaster will have a maximum height of 140 feet, a maximum speed of 56 mph and a maximum drop of 113 feet. The ride features cars in which people will ride horizontally, face-down, four across.
The exhibit portion of the attraction will feature 10 aquariums holding 184,000 gallons of water and 3,000 animals. There will be more than 60 species on display, including 304 rays, 23 sea dragons and 20 sea horses.
