I think there's some validity to this concern. Many times I find myself enjoying songs on an album that were never chosen to be singles. However, when searching iTunes, I do tend to buy the song I heard on the radio. Now, I just buy the entire album, but clearly the majority of iTunes users don't do the same.

It's the old classic argument that if the artist made the entire album worth buying, people would, but as Kid Rock has found, there's only a single song on the entire album that people want.

It's like if the grocery store packaged tofu with jugs of milk. You'd have to pay a higher price for the tofu+milk package when you really only want the milk.

If Kid Rock would actually produce ten solid songs on an album, then he'd sell ten 99 cent songs, thus making the same amount of money. However, he wants you to buy his tofu and not just a gallon of milk.
