From orlandosentinel.com:

Walt Disney World is adding a golf option — nine holes on the par 36 Oak Trail course — to its “Water Park Fun & More” add-on to Magic Your Way tickets. The golf option also is being added as a free benefit to Disney World Premium Annual Passes.
The golf option requires reserved tee times at Oak Trail, a walking course designed by Ron Garl for the entire family, located adjacent to Shades of Green.
After a visitor buys a Magic Your Way ticket for 2-10 days, he can add various add-on options. The Water Park Fun & More add-on costs $50 per ticket for out-of-state visitors. Florida residents get a discount. Normally, green fees at Oak Trail run $38 for adults, and $19 for juniors, ages 17 and under. Read the rest of this entry »

From cnn.com:
Walt Disney Co. hasnt signed any agreement to build a theme park in Shanghai, the media and entertainment giant said Monday.
“There is no agreement and there is no deal to construct a theme park in Shanghai,” Disneys vice president of corporate communications Alannah Hall- Smith said in a statement.
Disney issued the statement to deny earlier media reports that said it would build a theme park in the Chuansha area in Shanghais Pudong district.
On Saturday, Hong Kong newspaper Wen Wei Po said Disney would open its first theme park in mainland China no earlier than 2012, missing Shanghais original plan of opening the theme park in 2010, ahead of the Shanghai World Expo.
The newspaper said Shanghai and Disney would issue a formal announcement around August, when the Olympic Games will be held in China.
Hall-Smith declined to comment on the report.

From cnn.com
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — A teenager died Saturday when he was decapitated at the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park outside Atlanta, authorities said.
The 17-year-old park visitor was killed after scaling two 6-foot fences around the Batman roller coaster, said a statement issued by park spokeswoman Hela Sheth. He was struck by the coaster and killed, she said.
“We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area,” the statement said, noting that multiple signs are posted stating, “Danger Zone,” “Do Not Enter” and “Authorized Personnel Only.”
“Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost,” Sheth’s statement said. “Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride. This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more.”
No one on the ride was injured, she said.
Police said the incident occurred about 2 p.m.
The victim’s family was at the park with him, Sheth said, and park representatives were with them Saturday evening.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” she said.
Now, who told him to go into a restricted area. Prayers out to the family.

From attractionsmagazine.com:
Walt Disney World Resort today unveiled a new vision for Downtown Disney, with new shopping, dining and other experiences including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island. Also planned are numerous enhancements to popular Downtown Disney locations, as well as additional theming and storytelling by Imagineers.
To make way for the new offerings, all of the clubs currently on Pleasure Island (8 Trax, The Adventurer’s Club, Mannequins Dance Palace, BET Sound-Stage Club, Motion and The Comedy Warehouse) will close on Sept. 27. Other locations on Pleasure Island, including Raglan Road, Fuego by Sosa Cigars, Curl by Sammy Duval, Orlando Harley-Davidson and outdoor food and beverage locations, will remain open during the transition.
“We are committed to offering guests new and exciting experiences they can only have at Walt Disney World Resort,” said Downtown Disney vice president Kevin Lansberry. “Our bold new vision for Downtown Disney reflects the feedback we receive from our guests each and every day and will enable us to continue to offer the high-quality entertainment that is our hallmark.”
Over the next year, the 120-acre entertainment-shopping-dining complex will add a number of one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences for guests. Downtown Disney will even get its own iconic attraction, in the form of a giant, tethered balloon that will take guests 300 feet into the air to view the vistas of Walt Disney World Resort.
Other new experiences include:
• In fall 2008, guests will enter a world of prehistoric creatures at T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure. The dinosaur-themed family eatery will serve up pizzas, pastas, seafood and more, and will feature life-size animated dinosaurs that dwell among bubbling geysers, waterfalls and a fossil dig site.
• Also this fall, a design-your-own T-shirt store from Hanes will add to the growing collection of merchandise guests can personalize at Downtown Disney.
• E-brands Restaurants, an Orlando-based, multi-concept restaurant group, will premier its newest concept at Downtown Disney in spring 2009. The high-energy, casual eatery will feature authentic Central and South American cuisine, specialty drinks and live music along the waterfront.
Guests also will enjoy a brand new mix of shopping and dining experiences at Pleasure Island as it is transformed over the next two years.

From msn.com:
he Walt Disney Co.s Central Florida theme parks could see sharp declines in attendance this fall as airlines eliminate more than 5,700 seats per day on flights to Orlando due to soaring fuel prices.
The reason: 35 percent of visitors to Walt Disney World travel to Orlando on domestic flights, says a report by Pali Capital Research Managing Director Richard Greenfield.
By October, four airlines that account for about 33 percent of the total passenger traffic to Orlando — Delta, American, Continental and Northwest — will have cut 18 percent of their seats to Central Florida compared with seats available in October 2007.
