The Wall Street Journal previously released a work-in-progress photo of the highly-advanced animatronic version of Mr. Potato Head that will be installed at the upcoming Toy Story Mania attraction at both Disney’s California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme parks. Now, Yahoo! has a view of what the spud, all put together, looks like.
From yahoo.com:
This image provided by Walt Disney Imagineering shows comedian Don Rickles posing with his Toy Story alter ego, Mr. Potato Head, at Walt Disney Imagineering in Los Angeles, Feb. 23, 2008. Disney Imagineers have created a sophisticated Audio-Animatronics figure featuring the voice of Rickles for Toy Story Mania; an interactive ride-through attraction that combines 3-D technology and interaction with favorite Disney-Pixar stars. The new attraction is scheduled to open later in 2008 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California

From usatoday.com:
A British man choked to death Friday during a cupcake-eating contest at a pub in Wales.
BBC News says Adam Deeley, 34, was competing with his friends to see who could eat more of the “fairy cakes” that were left over from a party at the Monkey Cafe and Bar in Swansea.
“It is thought Mr Deeley had around five of the cakes lodged in his throat,” the South Wales Evening Post says. “Colleagues trained in first aid and an off-duty lifeguard rushed to help him. Paramedics arrived moments later. But they couldn’t open his airway.”
The coroner plans an inquest, but police don’t suspect foul play, The Guardian reports. “It was a tragic accident and very sad and should serve as a cautionary tale,” the nightclub’s owners say in a statement to BBC News.

From usatoday.com:
The U.S. Army is paying Disney $800,000 to run a series of four-hour training sessions that are designed to “revamp attitudes” at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, according to The Washington Post.
“A year after a scandal erupted over the long-term treatment of soldiers at the hospital, the Army has turned to Disney for help,” the paper says. “Service, Disney Style is newly required for all military and other government employees at Walter Reed.” Read the rest of this entry »

From reuters.com:
Best animated film went to box office hit “Ratatouille” about a friendly rat who becomes a chef in a Parisian kitchen.

While I didn’t see the whole telecast (I do have other things to do…) I saw quite a bit and I thought Jon Stewart seemed like a nervous college kid giving a class lecture before his frat buddies….and why such a slam on Dennis Hopper? I was less than impressed. While there certainly were some good moments, the telecast swam in bloat with long walks and long, long oscar history segments prior to many awards. (Although I was impressed in how they could always get that darn mike at the right height….do they measure the mouth height of each presenter?)

From topnews.in:

London, February 23: The director of a war museum in northern Norway claims that he has discovered cartoons of Disney characters that late Nazi leader Adolf Hitler drew during World War II.
William Hakvaag said that he found the drawings hidden in a painting signed “A. Hitler”, which he purchased at an auction in Germany.
According to him, the coloured cartoons were of the characters Bashful and Doc from the 1937 Disney film ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, which were signed A. H.
There was also an unsigned sketch of Pinocchio as he appeared in the 1940 Disney film, he said.
Hakvaag said that he had performed tests on the paintings, which suggested that they dated from 1940.
“I am 100 per cent sure that these are drawings by Hitler. If one wanted to make a forgery, one would never hide it in the back of a picture, where it might never be discovered,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
It is unclear how pictures of Stitch were also included…..Dr. Disney

From engadget.com:
Ah, finally, video of the production Optimus Maximus keyboard in real world use with our machine running the Configurator software. We wont spoil all the fun, hit up the video after the break to see it in action.
For those who haven’t heard of it before, the Optimus Maximus keyboard began as a concept rendering quite some time ago, featuring tiny OLED video screens in each key. Now, the team behind the concept is working hard for the keyboard to become a reality (albeit an expensive one). A functional prototype now exists, as used and video-recorded by Engadget (see the link below).
