The traveling Disneyland exhibit that was scheduled to appear at Union Station won’t be coming.
“Behind the Magic: 50 Years of Disneyland” was to have opened in November but was delayed because many of the display cases and graphic panels were damaged in transit. Officials said Friday that repairs were not possible within the time period of Union Station’s contract.
None of the Disneyland artifacts, which include artwork, models, drawings and ride vehicles, was damaged

Starting Thursday, Disneyland plans to award free overnight stays in the $3-million Dream Suite, once intended as Walt Disney’s private apartment.
During an exclusive tour last week, computer technicians armed with laptops continued to fine-tune and debug the extensive electronic surprises planned for almost every room of the 2,600-square-foot suite.
Each room of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite corresponds to a land in the Anaheim theme park:
* Front parlor — French provincial décor in blues and golds representing New Orleans Square.
* Master bedroom — Victorian era décor in aqua and forest green with a starscape ceiling and an Adventureland theme.
* Master bathroom — Fantasyland theme with a replica Tiffany window over the bathtub inspired by “Sleeping Beauty.”
* Children’s bedroom — Frontierland theme in burgundy and gold features a model train that circles the room at bedtime.
* Children’s bathroom — themed to Main Street U.S.A.
* Central courtyard — electronic fireflies inhabit the trees.
* Patio balcony — overlooks the Rivers of America with an incomparable view of the Fantasmic nighttime show. Read the rest of this entry »

The Mouse House is extending its charitable operations to Hong Kong, where it built its most recent theme park.
Hong Kong Disneyland Monday announced the creation of The Disney Childrens Fund, which will give grants to local non-profit organizations working with kids.
Backed by the Disney Worldwide Outreach arm, the fund will provide HK1 million $128,000 in its first year. This follows the Hong Kong parks recent launch of a VoluntEARS program by “cast members” — the parks staffers.
“The fund continues our companys longstanding tradition of helping children in the communities we call home throughout the world,” said Jennifer Anopolsky, Disneys senior VP, corporate responsibility.
Disneyland’s Dream Suite in New Orleans Square will host its first guest in just a couple of days… but, in the meantime, Disney has finally released the first official images of the completed interior:
The Walt Disney World Resort is known for its amusement parks and attractions. But its golf courses - the Magnolia, the Palm, Oak Trail, and the nine-hole Osprey - also have a strong reputation, boasting diverse layouts and a long PGA Tour history.
What warm-blooded soul, regardless of age, doesn’t tingle when they see Mickey Mouse?
Mickey is simply a global icon for fun, innocence and America’s Golden Age. But Mickey doesn’t immediately conjure up images of golf. Forgive him for that, he can’t do it all.
For the Walt Disney World Resort, and for that matter all of amusement-rich Orlando, golf can get lost in the array of amusements and high-octane kids.
But golf shouldn’t be an afterthought for visitors to Disney, because it’s foursome of golf courses is among Florida’s best Golf at Disney World has been around as long as Cinderella’s Castle. When the Magic Kingdom opened in October of 1971, two golf courses next door opened up along with it. The PGA Tour was competing on its courses by that December and has never left. Walt Disney Co. is no stranger to fantasy worlds, transporting audiences — whether to a cottage in the woods with a young princess in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” or to the Great Barrier Reef aboard the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage ride at Disneyland.
Now, Disney is spinning its tales in the newest mass medium — online virtual worlds, where children adopt cartoonish avatars and play games.
Disney and other entertainment companies are rushing to capitalize on the latest Internet phenomenon: the rise of virtual worlds for kids. Online haunts for grown-ups, such as Second Life, grab the attention of corporate marketers. But digital playgrounds for the juice-box set — such as Disneys Club Penguin and Ganz Inc.s Webkinz — are drawing bigger crowds. Read the rest of this entry »

As of midnight EST tonight, the Disney CMO contest entry period is officially over. Good luck to all who entered! Well over 500 entries were being shown on DreamCMO.com earlier today.
Even though the 2007 Dream Job Winners were ineligible for this contest, we decided it would be fun to submit an “entry” of sorts for everyone’s entertainment:
The original American Gladiators hires Mike Adamle as their commentator. American Gladiators is successful and eventually goes off the air. American Gladiators returns years later with pro-wrestling star Hulk Hogan replacing Adamle as commentator. Now, Adamle joins the world of pro-wrestling as their host. Strange.
As co-host of the original American Gladiators series, Mike Adamle has witnessed his fair share of punches, kicks and body slams. Good thing, too. All the better to prepare him for his latest role: WWE on-air personality.
Best known for his Gladiator role 1989 – 1996, Adamle joins the WWE broadcast team this Sunday at the Royal Rumble, where he’ll get his feet wet interviewing Superstars. From there, Adamle will join team Raw on Monday nights doing, as he describes it, “a little bit of everything.”
I wish the AG producers had hired Adamle instead of Hulk.
