Miss South Carolina in tonight’s Teen USA pageant had to answer the following question as part of the competition: “Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?”

Here is her answer: ” I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and I believe education such as in South Africa and Iraq, everywhere such as, and I believe that they should, our education over here, in the U.S. should help the U.S., or should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.”

She didn’t win. What a shock.

I saw this, and wished I had recorded it. Truly spectacular. Classic.

Sounds like she got some good key words in there. She just needed to put them together better.

She’s no doubt one of the fifth that can’t locate the US on a map.

My wife and I watched this as well… and weren’t sure what she said. She definitely didn’t answer the question. We usually make a game out of these pageant shows and try to pick the winners at the beginning just from seeing their intros. Michelle picked the winner correctly (as she usually does) and I picked… South Carolina.

I’m impressed that Mario kept it together during that. Hilarious!!

Watch the look on Mario’s face when she finishes. You can tell he’s trying hard to hold it in.
