From xinhuanet.com:
German carmaker Volkswagen and U.S. computer company Apple are discussing the possibility of producing a car together.
“The two companies are in the early stages of talks,” a VW spokesman told German magazine Capital.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn met several days ago in California to discuss the potential cooperation. The development of a so-called “iCar” could follow, the magazine said.
Through market analysis, experts estimate that a compact car upgraded with Apple products would be of great interest to young target groups, Capital said.
Do you think they’ll sell it at the Apple store? Will it come in a box? I can almost see the display in the mall windows….. - Dr. Disney

From gizmodo.com:

Remember that Intel ad that may or not be racist but is definitely lousy? Well, apparently Intel caught wind of the controversy it sparked and issued an apology for the “insensitive and insulting” ad.
Intel’s intent of our ad titled “Multiply Computing Performance and Maximize the Power of Your Employees” was to convey the performance capabilities of our processors through the visual metaphor of a sprinter. We have used the visual of sprinters in the past successfully.
Unfortunately, our execution did not deliver our intended message and in fact proved to be insensitive and insulting. Upon recognizing this, we attempted to pull the ad from all publications but, unfortunately, we failed on one last media placement.
We are sorry and are working hard to make sure this doesnt happen again.
Nancy Bhagat Vice President, Director of Integrated Marketing
Is anybody proofing the ads before publication? Missed that one, huh? - Dr. Disney

Honda’s ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) humanoid robot is back on his feet after a conspicuous face-plant late last year, and now he’s returning to the stage at Disneyland, running around at nearly 4mph. Besides all that robo-sprinting, this version of ASIMO reportedly interacts a lot with a live host in the 15-minute Say Hello to Honda’s ASIMO show starting August 29. Its the only permanent installation in North America where you can see Hondas robot, and now according to his makers he’s more mobile and smarter than ever.

They said that you can hear the web screech from the millions of mosquitos trapped in it — wouldn’t it have been neat to have been camping in a tent under this and wake up covered in webs in the morning! Uh……or maybe not. Talk about arachnophobia times ten! - Dr. Disney.

A huge spider web, which has spread over several trees covering an area of 200 yards, has stunned Entomologists and visitors.
“Millions of mosquitoes caught in the web has changed its former white color into brown”, said an official with Lake Tawakoni State Park, where the massive web is found. Read the rest of this entry »

From action-figure.com:

Nomad was at Monster Mania this past weekend and got chance to see the first sculpt from Shocker Toys upcoming Who Wants To be A Superhero action figure line…
Im not sure if theyve played Who Wants To be A Superhero, over here in the UK yet or not, but if it has been on, I dont think its been on any of the major TV channels. Which is a shame as I think it would be my type of TV programme.
Consequently Im a bit of a noob when it comes to the series, and had to look up who Feedback was he was the winner of series 1 I believe.
Shocker Toys have got the action figure rights and were showing off the protoypes at last weekends Monster Mania in New Jersey.
The pictures below that Nomad took are of the actual clay protoype.
The finished figure will have 18 points of articulation and is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2008.

From variety.com:

The Disney Channel made primetime history during the summer, averaging 3.1 million viewers — more than any other network in the history of cable.
The previous high was the 2.9 million average primetime viewers harvested by USA last summer and TNT in summer 2005. Disney’s “High School Musical 2″ earlier this month became the most-watched individual program in cable history (17.2 million viewers for its preem), but the network was loaded with high-octane performers including episodes of the “Hannah Montana” and “Suite Life of Zack & Cody” series and theatrical movies such as “Ella Enchanted” and “Spy Kids 3: Game Over.”
But Disney’s competitors point out that the network doesn’t accept 30-second spots, giving it a nice advantage over the networks that frequently interrupt their shows for commercials.
Among ad-supported cable networks, USA continued on top, not only in total viewers but in the key demos of adults 18-49, 25-54 and 18-34.

Article on Michael Eisner and his Disney legacy — click link
Growing up in New York City, Michael Eisner was a fan of Giants football games — but not because they were easy to watch.
During some of their bad seasons, the Giants often fell far behind by the fourth quarter. A friend, John Angelo, would suggest leaving early, according to Eisners memoir, “Work in Progress.”
Eisner would have none of it.
“The Giants have to score four times and get a field goal, but there are five minutes left, and theyre going to do it,” Eisner told his pal.
The Giants didnt do it. But Eisner tried to stay positive.
“I was always convinced things would turn out well in the end,” Eisner wrote. “As I grew up, I discovered that I was more comfortable dealing with crisis than I was with too much success.”
