Six jeers for Six Flags

From msn.com:

A good article on some problems at Six Flags parks — having just been to Six Flags Great America, I agree with all six jeers. Link to read the entire article. - Dr. Disney

A few weeks ago, I snuck off from work and played hooky with my kids. We gathered up my girlfriend and her kids and headed straight for that icon of American summer fun: the amusement park. Fortunately, I live in Annapolis, Md., and a Six Flags theme park is literally around the corner. We did have a fun day. We left tired, sunburned, wet and poor — all indicative of some fun, for sure. But this visit left me thinking.

Remember the old rivalry between the two rental car companies Hertz and Avis? Hertz was always crowing, “Were #1,” while scrappy Avis told us, “We try harder.” We loved Avis for that persistence; it kept us rooting for the little guy. Well, as I reflect on my day at Six Flags, I think that maybe they ought to heed Avis advice and try a little harder. Read the rest of this entry »

Upcoming Haunted Mansion Pin Depicts New Staircase Scene

I was at Downtown Disney today and noticed this Haunted Mansion pin in their Upcoming Pins box. It is a depiction of the new staircase scene that is being added to WDW’s Haunted Mansion.  Note that not only is there an upside down candelabra, but also some footsteps running along one of the upsiddown staircases!  Should make for a fun new effect.

I was surprised to see it show up in the preview box so early, with well over a month until the Mansion opens.

Binder Park Zoo resident now calls Animal Kingdom home

From battlecreekenquirer.com:

Its off to Walt Disney Worlds Animal Kingdom for one Binder Park Zoo resident. Binder Park Zoo’s red-tailed hawk booked a plane ticket to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. There he will remain as a permanent resident participating in Disneys many educational programs.

Binder Park Zoo rescued this red-tailed hawk back in September of 1992, due to a damaged wing. This handicap prevented him from being released into the wild, so he was introduced into the Zoos formal education programs. The hawk became a vital part in educating people about the dangers that many birds of prey face, when throwing trash and litter from vehicles. Doing so brings wildlife closer to the roads, resulting in injured animals, thus drawing the attention of birds of prey such as the red-tailed hawk. Read the rest of this entry »
