Finally… some confirmation on the long-rumored staircase scene that is to be added to Walt Disney World’s Haunted Mansion.
The infamous mousermerf on the WDWMAGIC.com forums posted this image:

Right now, just past the library scene, you ascend a staircase, passing nothing but blackness to the right of your Doom Buggy. It looks like this completely empty part of the Mansion is going to now be filled with a maze of MC Escher-like staircases facing every directions. You’ll also notice in the picture various doorways and candelabras that are upsidedown and sideways.
Further inspection of the photo reveals concept art of the floating Leota effect, a new portrait hallway, the new bride, and a photo of an expanding room gargoyle.
Also, it was noted that the red figure on the left side of the photo may be Rolly Crump’s candle man design for the original Museum of the Weird concept that ultimately morphed into the Haunted Mansion.
I have no idea where this photo originated from, but if it’s legitimitely from within WDI, I’m VERY excited to get back inside the Mansion in September when it reopens.
distant creations is a blog about the world and more. the world is: amazing. amusing. creative. confusing. this blog is here to deliver the best and most bizarre of the world and beyond. from distant lands to your home town.
topics to be featured here include technology, movies, television, music, collectibles (mainly action figures), theme parks (mainly Disney), video games, and any other interesting or strange news that pops up in the world.
the name 'distant creations' originated when I needed a term to summarize my many projects. my creations encompass a wide variety of fields and areas and are thus deemed as 'distant'.

I can’t wait! When I was in WDW in Feb/Mar, the HM was in very poor shape. The audio was not working worth beans (the graveyard had none of the fun, up-beat music playing and the buggies had varying problems with static and scratchy sound).
I believe that Disney will do the Right Thing with the HM and not whore it out for cheap plastic toy sales (let’s hope they do at least!)

Hey Ricky! LOOK TO THE VERY RIGHT OF THE PHOTO AT THE STORYBOARDS! You can see two scenes that look to be the Madame Lepta head, and another one I cant quite make out

OMG, how exciting! I was just hoping for a new Bride like at Disneyland, but an entire new scene…I can’t wait to get back to the world and check it out once it re-opens.

I am a CM myself and I can confirm to you that it is legitimately from WDI. There was an article posted on the Cast Member intranet portal…aka “the HUB” under the Imagineering site that talked briefly (not much in the way of details) about changes in the Mansion and a couple of photos. This is one of the photos.

yeah if you go on youtube it shows the new haunted mansion…though i still have to agree with the old haunted mansion, but i guess they put in a few additions such as the bride is not an actual thing you can touch it is an image. I don’t think Paul Freeze will be the audio guy any more. They also have the new stair seen as pictured above in a model. Madame Leota will not be on a table anymore she will be in the air, as she was in the movie. Although I’m sure this makes the Haunted Mansion more “interesting” i still prefer the old one that had “classic” written all over it.
