Sea World’s “Aquatica”

From dwtickets.com:

(Note from Mark: We saw construction going full-tilt on Sea World’s new waterpark, located directly across from the Sea World entrance on International Drive. Numerous waterslides were already partially up, including what looked like five multi-colored several story slides in a twisting line. )

Sea World is finally building a water park to rival Orlandos “Big Three” of Wet N Wild, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon. Sea World will be making their move in the form of AQUATICA – a 59 acre water theme park that will combine up-close marine animal experiences with thrilling water slides and an enormous 80,000 square foot man-made beach. Sea World Aquatica will have 36 water slides, six sparkling pools and lagoons, and exotic marine animals and tropical flora from all over the world. Aquatica is slated to open its doors one year from now, in March of 2008. Sea World Aquatica will be highlighted by a first-of-its-kind 300-foot water slide, featuring a 42-foot drop, that will take riders in clear tubes underwater through an actual dolphin habitat.

You could be breaking the law in Florida

From florida-weekly.com:

If you’ve ever played with your young children by getting down on all fours and pretending to be a bull while they giggled and taunted you with a pillow case or towel, well, KNOCK IT OFF. Simulated bullfighting is illegal in Florida.

That’s right, legislators in the Sunshine State felt some compelling need to pass a law to regulate the all-too common simulated bullfight. The law, passed in 2002, says, “It shall be unlawful, and punishable as a misdemeanor, for any person to conduct or engage in a simulated or bloodless bullfighting exhibition.”

That’s pretty clear – only real, bloody bullfights are legal. However, since January 2005, 23 people have been arrested on this charge according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. There’s no data on what happened in those cases but prosecutions must be light, there’s no case law on the books involving simulated bullfighting.

Still, the bullfighting law isn’t the strangest in Florida….

You’ve probably read about the many silly/stupid laws on the books in many states. But, of course, don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. Many of the silly laws your read about online just aren’t really on the books.
