New at SeaWorld: Elmo, kid rides, test dummies

elmo.jpg

I spotted a few new things while at SeaWorld Orlando yesterday. First was the new Sesame Street stage show, “Elmo and the Bookaneers.” While clearly geared towards preschoolers, I enjoyed it. It was funny and I enjoyed hearing some of my old favorite songs like the Sesame Street theme song and Ernie singing rubber ducky. I’ve uploaded some video clips of the show on my YouTube page.

Another new ride was this kid’s ride… Swishy Fishies, a very small version of the spinning teacups ride. My 8-year-old son and his grandma had fun spinning around.

They were still testing this ride behind the barriers, but couldn’t really hide it. I’m not sure what it will be called but it’s the standard small kids version of the drop ride. They have one just like this, but with different themes, at Cypress Gardens and Six Flags in Atlanta. But I did find it interesting to see the test dummies they had riding it. Some look just like people and some were just blocks.

Ride warning for double leg amputees above the knee

ride-warning.jpg

I found this funny warning on a new kids ride at SeaWorld, Orlando. Not that there’s anything funny about double leg amputation, but just how many are wanting to ride this “spinning teacups” type ride that they need to print it right on the sign?

Lots of hi-res photos of the Transformer robots featured in the new Transformer movie. They do look a bit more complicated than the toys used to look….wouldn’t you say?

Pompeii may Bloom

From darkhorizons.com:

bloom.jpg

In February director Roman Polanski announced his plans to direct a mega-budget disaster movie about the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and its destruction of the nearby Pompeii.

Now, the first casting rumors have emerged over at Omelete.Br who report that Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson has been in early talks about taking lead roles in the $130 million production.

Bloom would play Marcus Attilius Primus, a young engineer sent to repair the greatest aqueduct in the Roman Empire, which brings water to 250,000 people on the Bay of Naples. Taking on the corrupt political forces to get the job done, he soon finds himself facing an even greater threat – Mother Nature herself.

A five month shoot is scheduled to get underway in August.

Scan of 1966 Disneyland monorail operator’s manual.

From blogspot.com:

As a finish to the spotlight on Monorails, the SOP is the 1966 version of the Highway in the Sky Story Guide and Operations Procedure. This SOP was owned by Ken Kohler who was a Club 55 Member and also heavily involved in the operation of the Disneyland trains throughout the years. He was also involved in the predecessor to the Monorails, the Viewliner. Enjoy reading everything you need to know to run your own Monorail.

Be patient with the site, since it’s being dugg at the moment it may take a long time for the images to load.
