George Lucas Announces Two More Star Wars Movies.

From slashfilm.com:

We absolutely knew that George Lucas was not done with the Star Wars universe. The Star Wars creator revealed to Fox News that he will make two more live-action Star Wars films.

“But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”

The two “extra” movies will probably be one hour in length and made for television.

At the one hour length, what will differentiate the upcoming hour-long live-action Star Wars television series from the films? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to make them a bit longer?

Well…if it’s only an hour, maybe he’ll cut out some of the pesky dialog parts he’s been struggling with.

Heh… He’s been trashing SPidey 3 on his recent interviews, saying it’s a silly movie that, when you take everything apart, there’s no story. Now, not to say Spidey 3 is perfect, but ol’ George really is not one to talk about lack of story, is he?

  3. Sorry, I won’t be seeing either of the new Star Wars movies. Lucas just bait-and-switched me too many times. Maybe on DVD where I can hit the Stop button and not be out too much money, but I’ve been burned three times too many now.

And no, the prequels weren’t good movies. No, they weren’t.

That’s your opinion Steve. I enjoyed the hell out of Episodes 1-3.

His comments were very tongue-in-cheek and I think are being way blown out of proportion.
I haven’t seen Spiderman 3 and I don’t plan to (never saw and have no interest in seeing 1 or 2 either) but I thought he was kind of making the point that “silly” movies (like the ones he’s been accused of making) do well at the box office and are enjoyed by many people regardless of their subject matter.
