Below you’ll find the first ever pic of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in the adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book Iron Man. The pic comes courtesy of USA Today.
“We didn’t want to just go with a safe choice,” Favreau says from the set of the film, due in theaters May 2, 2008. “The best and worst moments of Robert’s life have been in the public eye. He had to find an inner balance to overcome obstacles that went far beyond his career. That’s Tony Stark. Robert brings a depth that goes beyond a comic-book character who is having trouble in high school, or can’t get the girl. Plus, he’s simply one of the best actors around.”
I loved the Humvee meets police tank look of the Batmobile in “Batman Begins,” but admittedly some other fans didnt. Regardless both kinds of people will derive pleasure from the following news.
Freeze Dried Movies reports that next week the plan is to blow it up, specifically one of the several models they own of the vehicle, being used again in “The Dark Knight,” will be exploded.
The cause of the explosion is anyones guess right now - but it has no relation to the scenes filmed at the Chicago Post Office last week or the subsequent accidental fire which broke out.
Shooting in Chicago has now wrapped and full on principal photography is scheduled to commence in London next week.
All you have to do is make a 30-second iPhone ad. Keep it in the style of the “I’m a Mac” ads. There are three rules - First, your commercial has to include the words “I’m an iPhone.” It has to be about 30-seconds long. And it’s gotta be funny.
The entries could be hilarious and I’d be surprised if Apple doesn’t do some iPhone ads like these themselves.
CBS SANTA ANA, Calif. SunCal Cos, the firm that persuaded three Anaheim City Council members to rezone a parcel to allow for housing in the citys resort area, will move quickly to start work, a representative said Wednesday. Disney has strongly objected to this rezoning.
Frank Elfend is a consultant for Irvine-based SunCal Cos., which has proposed a 1,500-home project to include 225 low-income units on a parcel near the Santa Ana 5 Freeway; property Disney has eyed for a third theme park.
The Walt Disney Co. made its opposition known in a lawsuit against the city that challenges environmental reports approved in connection with the project. Rob Doughty, vice president of communications for the Disneyland Resort, said in a statement that the vote “breaks the promise the city made with the community in 1994″ when it created the resort overlay.
Disney has announced plans to officially drop the “Buena Vista” name used in Buena Vista Distribution, Buena Vista International and Buena Vista Home Entertainment. The company hopes the move will further strengthen the Disney name/brand. It sounds like a good idea to me, as most people were unaware that Buena Vista was a division of Disney, even though the current company logo is a silhouette of the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle. The company will continue to use the Touchstone, Miramax and Pixar film studio names.

Fire broke out on the roof of Chicago’s vacant former post office Tuesday where a movie crew had been filming scenes for the upcoming “The Dark Knight” reports The Associated Press.
Fire department spokesman Kevin MacGregor said a building engineer suggested the fire might have started in the ventilation system. While there was no injuries, it was unclear if the fire was related to the filming.
Crews had been filming there all week so office worker Pete Kearney says of the smoke seen on Tuesday morning - “We assumed it was part of the movie.”
The Project Tomorrow post show area of the Spaceship Earth ride at Epcot is now open. It features a large globe video screen, a 3-D Body Building game and a driving game. There are also a couple of other areas that say coming soon, but from the looks of it, not too soon. I took a short video and a few pictures…
The seminal spoof rock band Spinal Tap is due to make a reunion appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York tonight (Wednesday) with a new 15-minute film describing their lives since the original This Is Spinal Tap mockumentary was released in 1984. The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that the original band members, guitarist Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest), singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer), are also due to perform at Wembley Stadium in England as part of the Live Earth concerts on July 7. In an interview, director Marty DeBergi (Rob Reiner) said, “They’re not that environmentally conscious, but they’ve heard of global warming. … Nigel thought it was just because he was wearing too much clothing that if he just took his jacket off it would be cooler.”
I can’t wait to see this new 15 minute film. I hope it’ll be available online!
Apple said Wednesday it will leverage its proven capability in the area of software development to gradually add new software features and applications to its iPhone and Apple TV products free of charge, providing its customers with the “greatest possible experience.”
“We are taking this bold step to leverage what we do best,” chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer said during a conference call with analysts and members of the media. He added that some of the new iPhone applications will be brand new.
Oppenheimer offered few additional details on the two-pronged initiative, but implied that the new features and applications would be made available through automatic software updates to both iPhone and Apple TV.
In order to account for the new features, Apple said it will document iPhone and Apple TV income through a subscription based accounting model, in which income will be distributed over a 24-month period. Payments from AT&T/Cingular will be reported on a quarterly basis.
Yet again something that people expected, although I didn’t see this coming for Apple TV, which is interesting.
At least it’s confirmed by Apple now that new features will be free.
