De Vliegende Hollender

I can’t really find out a much about this new ride in the Netherlands except that it is part roller coaster, part dark ride, part water ride, is named “The Flying Dutchman” and it looks really wild. Must have a pirate themed dark ride section and a roller water coaster. Pictures look really amazing. (Must be a nightmare to maintain). See additional photos at:

102-year-old Calif. woman hits hole-in-one

From yahoo.com:

Elsie McLean thought she might have lost her ball on the par-3, 100-yard fourth hole at Bidwell Park. Instead, the 102-year-old Chico woman became the oldest golfer ever to make a hole-in-one on a regulation course.
Because of the slope of the green, McLean and her partners couldn’t see where her ball landed after she teed off.

“Where’s my ball?” McLean asked.

Her friends, Elizabeth Rake and Kathy Crowder, found it in the cup.

“I said, ‘Oh, my Lord. It can’t be true. It can’t be true.’ I was so excited. And the girls were absolutely overcome,” McLean said.

It was McLean’s first ace.

Experts open dolphin chat line in Florida

From yahoo.com:

A marine mammal rehabilitation facility opened a dolphin “chat line” of sorts Saturday, hoping to teach a deaf dolphins unborn calf to communicate.
Castaway, as the stranded Atlantic bottlenose dolphin is named, has been recovering at the Marine Mammal Conservancy since Jan. 30. A battery of tests has confirmed she is deaf.

Dolphins need to hear echoes of sounds they produce to find food, socialize and defend themselves against predators.

Refurbished Epcot Mexico ride video; Flower & Garden pictures

library-8379.jpg

I went to Epcot today and took a video of the newly opened Gran Fiesta Tour (formerly El Rio del Tiempo) ride in the Mexico pavillion at Epcot. They have definitely toonified the ride. Is it better? I guess that’s a matter of opinion. I’m sure my 7-year-old son will like it better, but I think I liked the old one better. It now showcases Disney characters much more, whereas it used to just showcase Mexico.

I also took a few pictures of the just started Flower & Garden Festival. There are a few new things, but most is the same as each year.
As you enter they have a large Peter Pan pirate ship topiary with Peter Pan and Pirates of the Caribbean music playing. I assume this is to help promote the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie. They also have Stitch in a small boat being towed by the ship for some reason. But Tinker Bell looks cute on top.
