Below you’ll find the first ever pic of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in the adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book Iron Man. The pic comes courtesy of USA Today.
“We didn’t want to just go with a safe choice,” Favreau says from the set of the film, due in theaters May 2, 2008. “The best and worst moments of Robert’s life have been in the public eye. He had to find an inner balance to overcome obstacles that went far beyond his career. That’s Tony Stark. Robert brings a depth that goes beyond a comic-book character who is having trouble in high school, or can’t get the girl. Plus, he’s simply one of the best actors around.”

That’s a pretty good look for the character of Tony Stark. For those not in the comic book know, the blue lights on his chest are a device that keep his heard beating. Stark’s heart was damaged by a grenade shrapnel when he was in the military, so that chest device, in conjunction with the actual Iron Man suit, are the things that keep him alive. I cannot wait for this flick for sure.
