Disney Dream Job Release

The winners of the Disney Dream Job contest were officially released today on the CareerBuilder site as well as via press release from Disney. A few interesting points popped up in the press release…

From disneylandnews.com:

The most popular videos included a Princess-in-Waiting, who received more than 70,000 votes and a Haunted Mansion Butler/Maid who received nearly 50,000 votes.

[…]
Jungle Cruise Skippers will help provide witty commentary as they entertain guests aboard the attraction and make their way through Disneyland’s adventurous jungle voyage.

Each Pirate will be given a distinct personality, name and “cursed” prop inspired by the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies as they join the Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. Dream “Job” Pirates will interact with guests, their fellow Pirate crew and, of course, Captain Jack Sparrow.

As the Haunted Mansion Butlers and Maids steadfastly work to create the most chilling atmosphere in all of Disneyland, they will greet and welcome guests who enter the world-famous “expanding room.” The Butlers will also act as “groundskeepers” who walk “ghost dogs” outside and around the mansion, while the Maids perform in the foyer.

Disney’s Princesses-in-Waiting will join the rest of the “Princess Fantasy Faire” at the Fantasyland Theater. The princesses will interact with guests before the “Royal Coronation Ceremony” and help demonstrate how to properly wave and curtsey, as well as teach the guests the Royal Dance.

Disney Parks Parade Performers will play an instrumental role in Disney’s “High School Musical Pep Rally” parade as part of the “East High School” ensemble. Each Parade Performer will participate in the basketball shoot-around and showcase their special Wildcat moves to help spread “Wildcat Fever.”

I hope I get to spend some time in the foyer and “expanding room” and don’t spend my 4-5 hour shift wandering outside the Mansion with a “ghost dog”. ;)

I wonder which winners hit the 70,000 and 50,000 vote marks…

Ricky, I suppose they’ll have some form of rotating schedule, that way everybody will be able to be inside and outside during their shift. I mean, that’s how Custodial shifts worked for me. Somedays I’d get Frontierland Strip, others were Adventureland, and I even got two bussing shifts (at Fantasyland and Liberty Square). There’s also the bathroom shifts, but since I was in the International Program, we didn’t get those.

Hey Ricky do you actually go on the payroll for Disney as part of this or is winning the contest and getting a free-trip to Disneyland itself the reward? Just curious. Personally I’d work the Mansion for free!

No payroll. We get a $250 gift card + the trip. :)

Hey, $250! Awesome! But I wonder if you’ll get the CM discount! $250 plus 10% off on stuff equals happy times!

Congrats Ricky, I’m sure my votes made the difference! ;-)

I agree that you’ll probably work in shifts, walking a “ghost dog” for a bit (as long as you don’t have to clean up any ghost poo), and then into the foyer for a bit as well. That way everyone gets the full experience.
