From nytimes.com:
The Xbox 360 Elite, which is to be announced today and will be in stores in late April, will have a list price of $479, or $80 more than the Xbox 360 Pro and $180 more than the basic Xbox 360. The new model has a 120-gigabyte hard drive, in contrast to the standard model’s 20-gigabyte drive. It also has a high-definition multimedia interface port and cable and a wireless controller and headset. Current Xbox 360 owners can buy the new 120-gigabyte hard drive as a separate accessory for $179.
I’d like to have one of these, but I can’t see selling my current 360 to buy one. I may buy the larger hard drive - if I ever fill my current one up. But even that is a bit too expensive.

I can’t see this as a good move. The new one is MORE expensive over a year after the old one came out? If sales are down, shouldn’t they make the new one at least the SAME price to entice new buyers?
I’d like to own an XBox 360, but the cost is what has mainly kept me from buying one. Now, if I’m going to buy one, I want to buy the best one… but it’s even MORE expensive. Doesn’t make sense to me.

I agree. If they wanted to help themselves, they don’t make it more expensive. They obviously havn’t learned from Sony’s troubles.
