SeaWorld videos

From youtube.com:

I went to SeaWorld last night. I don’t go often enough to know what’s new, but I did take a couple of pictures and a bunch of videos.

These touch screen computers were set up by Dolphin Cove. They let you look up pictures they took of you with the dolphins and see them right on the screen. I tried looking up a picture they took of us earlier in the day by the entrance but it wouldn’t come up. I guess it’s just for pics taken at Dolphin Cove. All theme parks should have these so you don’t have to wait in line to see your pics.

One of the new children’s rides they’re working on. Nothing for me to get excited about, but more for the little ones is good.

XBox 360 Elite High-Def Movie Details

From imdb.com:

Microsoft plans to introduce an “elite” model of its Xbox360 game system that includes a 120GB hard drive — six times larger than the current version — and additional high-definition capability. It will have a suggested retail price of $479.99 when it becomes available beginning April 29. At the same time, Microsoft said that New Line Cinema has agreed to provide high-definition films for the Xbox Live downloading service. It will join Paramount, Warner Bros., and Lionsgate, who are already providing HD films for the service.

Matt previously blogged about the upcoming “elite” XBox 360.  Now it looks like Microsoft will be giving NetFlix and Blockbuster a run for their money as they continue in the world of high-definition movie downloads with even more studios.  If the movies are available for rent instead of purchase, are always available, and can be downloaded relatively quickly, I will surely get one of these instead of buying an HD-DVD or BluRay player.

Coat of Armor

16300_l[1].jpg

April showers? Try a monsoon. Originally designed for commercial fisherman, the burly Helly Hansen Highlienr Jacket ($77 hellynewengland.com) can handle North Sea blasts — the PVC-coated slicker in green or classic yellow is oil, chemical and cold resistant too. I bet Captain Barbosa wished he had one.

Military Tough

top_bg[1].jpg

The new submersible, military tough Verizon Wireless G’zOne cell phone ($300: http://estore.vzwshop.com/gzone) isn’t about snapping underwater pictures or taking it in the shower — it’s about having a mobile phone that can keep up with your rugged lifestyle. The 5.3-ounce phone is the first phone that can withstand getting run over by your mountain bike, fumbled off a crag or dropped into the drink.

USB Keychain uses

pic_pivot.jpg

I’m sure this will be old news to some of you computer experts, but I discovered this recently and I have found it really useful. I purchased a USB keychain device from Target in their clearance rack (an Imation 512mb Pivot) for $9.98 and loaded it with Mozilla and Thunderbird e-mail software specifically for USB keychain devices from a site called portableapps.com. I am easily able to get my home email on my own dedicated software and search the internet with my own bookmarks from my “public” work computers. It also leaves less of a history on the public computer, stores your email separately from your office e-mail system and can utilize your private passwords. The programs work amazingly well — you just plug in the USB keychain and access the “Removeable Drive” — you can get programs which work for both Windows and Mac. As I said this may be old news to some, but I have found it fun and beneficial!

WB Finally Confirms Lego Batman video game

media.jpg

From 1up.com:

the makers of Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy are now
one brick of a larger company, Warner Bros. Interactive. However,
don’t worry about this changing their focus from brickology, because
WB has them hard at work on their next game, Lego Batman: The Videogame.

This is really cool. My son and I love to play the Star Wars Lego games together.

Sega and Nintendo Join Forces for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

From nintendo.com:

Sega Corporation and Nintendo Co. Ltd. today made a historical announcement that two of the biggest icons in the entertainment industry, Mario and Sonic, are joining forces to star in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Developed for the Wii and the Nintendo DS, this momentous agreement marks the first time these two renowned stars have appeared together in a game.

Published by Sega across Europe and North America, and published by Nintendo in the Japanese market, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will be available for Holiday 2007 and is licensed through a worldwide partnership with International Sports Multimedia (ISM), the exclusive interactive entertainment software licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Mario vs Sonic

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, players will compete in events that take place in environments based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Using a supporting cast of characters from the amazing worlds of both Mario and Sonic, gamers will be able to compete as or against a range of lovable personalities including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and more. Innovative usage of the Wii and DS control systems to maneuver a favorite character will allow players to race the likes of Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, engage in exhilarating rallies in table tennis and churn water in a swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after gold medal.

This game can really be something. I have a feeling though that it’ll fall below expectations (My expectations at least). Hopefully Nintendo & Sega prove me wrong and make a game worthy of what they are setting out to do.

Upgraded Xbox 360 to Be Introduced

From nytimes.com:

The Xbox 360 Elite, which is to be announced today and will be in stores in late April, will have a list price of $479, or $80 more than the Xbox 360 Pro and $180 more than the basic Xbox 360. The new model has a 120-gigabyte hard drive, in contrast to the standard model’s 20-gigabyte drive. It also has a high-definition multimedia interface port and cable and a wireless controller and headset. Current Xbox 360 owners can buy the new 120-gigabyte hard drive as a separate accessory for $179.

I’d like to have one of these, but I can’t see selling my current 360 to buy one. I may buy the larger hard drive - if I ever fill my current one up. But even that is a bit too expensive.

Keith Does Look Like An Undead Pirate….

rock26.jpg

Here is what Pirate fans can look forward to if Keith Richards does end up appearing in “At World’s End” as Jack’s father. This must be his contemporary “pirate” look at the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in March. The rock group Van Halen was also inducted, but only Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony apparently attended — Eddie is in rehab, throwing the rumored reunion tour with son Wolfgang, his brother Alex and David Lee Roth, in doubt.
