It’s looking like 2007 is going to be an amazing year for action figures. Mezco has announced a line of figures for the classic comedy-adventure film, The Goonies.
From action-figure.com:
After seeing them at the US Toyfair, it was New York Comic Con where the protoypes of Mezco’s upcoming line based on The Goonies was shown to the public…
One of the few things we weren’t allowed to take pictures of at the US Toyfair was Mezco’s upcoming line based on the classic movie: The Goonies.
Whilst painted samples were on display at the US ToyFair, New York Comic Con had unpainted samples which we were able to shoot for you.
The line will be in a 6″ scale, meaning the kids will be slightly smaller, whilst Sloth with be about 7″ tall.
The line up consists of:
* Mouth
* Mickey
* Sloth
* Data
* Chunk
I wish I had photos of the painted sculpts, but these are good enough for now:

I think Mezco has done a great job on the likenesses on these sculpts. Let’s hope that they look as good on the final products.

For the iPhone junkie, here is a video that breaks down the Keynote to flesh out some arguments about the iPhone. The most notable point made is that an iPhone tab in iTunes’ interface lists ringtones, near-confirming that the iTunes store will sell ringtones to customers. Well…that or you will get ringtones free with music downloads. And I’m just $ure that will happen.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time finally comes to the Wii Virtual Console tomarrow. Personally I have never played, so as soon as I get points I will be downloading it.
From GameSpot
"..the result is a game that can’t be called anything other than flawless."–GameSpot, 1998.
That was a summary in the review of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, considered by many to be one of the best games ever made. Over eight years later, a new generation of gamers will soon get their chance to see if the classic has stood up to the test of time.

Dell’s computer with no operating system is $53 more expensive than one loaded with Vista!
Link
This means that Dell must be getting kickbacks from someone to make Linux cost more than Windows. I was hoping that Dell was finally opening up to the open source community, but this makes that seem false.

From siliconera.com:
Earlier today I was at Disneyland where Disney Interactive held the world premiere of Spectrobes. To celebrate the event a group of forth graders from Gauer Elementary school came by to try out the game a few weeks before it hit store shelves. On top of missing a day of school and hanging out in Disneyland they got to meet Jason Dolley from Corey in the House (?) and each of them got a gift pack with a Nintendo DS and an advanced copy of the game. The kicker is that this was all part of a class, after rushing to stations to try the game out the students had a lecture somewhere else in the park. Best elementary school ever? Past the break are some pictures and check back later today for details about Spectrobes straight from the producer, Kentaro Hisai.
Check out the pictures at the website.

In a pair of Blu-ray firsts for Disney, the studio will unleash their premiere two-disc and BD-Java-enhanced titles when it brings the blockbuster ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films to the format this spring.
As first announced late last month, the studio is set to debut ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ on Blu-ray on May 22, just in time for the theatrical premiere of the third film in the series, ‘At World’s End.’
With expectations high for both releases to be a “trojan horse” for Blu-ray — meaning the kind of huge A-list titles that will entice new consumers to finally dive into the format — Disney appears to be pulling out all the stops to ensure that fans will not be disappointed.Â
Each title will be a “75GB” release, aka a BD-50 dual-layer disc for the movie, and an extra BD-25 single-layer disc with additional extras. Tech specs include the usual 1080p video transfers and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround tracks. Extras will replicate the existing, feature-packed standard-def DVD versions.
And exclusive to the Blu-ray releases will be two BD-Java bonuses. ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl’ will include “Scoundrels of the Sea,” an interactive in-movie feature that presents facts on-screen about the legends and lore of pirates. ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ will include an “exciting” new Java feature called “Liar’s Dice,” a single-player game shot in live-action HD video.
Disney has set a $34.95 suggested list price for each of the ‘Pirates’ flicks.

From theonion.com:
Give that special someone a gift that will confuse, disappoint and possibly anger. Give it to them in an Onion GotchaBoxâ„¢. These special gift boxes, printed with fake product graphics and descriptions, hold your actual gifts inside. The victim/recipient will congratulate you (eventually) for providing them an utterly perplexing and wonderfully humbling moment.
Other GotchaBoxes also available: Salt Of The Month Club and Make-Your-Own-Umbrella Kit
This is a great idea. One of those “I wish I’d thought of that” ideas. I can’t wait to see what else they come up with. If anyone buys one of these and gives it to someone, be sure to video their reaction when they open it.

This is a bit of an idle question, but Ive been recieving some windows viruses through my email the last week or so, and I have them all lined up on my desktop like trophies, all decorated with emblems to make them look pretty, when it occured to me that they might actually do something if I ran them in Wine. Would anything happen do you think?
Link
I actually consider this good news meaning that Wine’s emulation is so good it even emulates the bad parts of Windows. Makes my switch to Linux much closer.

From amazon.com:
Askville is a place where you can share and discuss knowledge with other people by asking and answering questions on any topic. It’s a fun place to meet others with similar interests to you and a place where you can share what you know. You can learn something new everyday or help and meet others using your knowledge. Askville even helps you learn by giving you cool tools to help you find information online while you are answering questions. It’s all about sharing—what you know and what you want to know—so go ahead and meet someone new today and Askville!
This service is similar to Yahoo Answers but offers a possibility for rewards in the future. By having your answers rated as good or “best,” you can earn experience points and, for certain actions, Quest Coins, which will ultimately be used when Amazon launches its next endeavor later this year:

Questville.com is a new website that will launch in 2007. On Questville you will be able to use your Quest Coins to participate in exciting new adventures and other cool things!
It’s all rather confusing but my wife is addicted to Yahoo Answers. Perhaps I can turn her on to this now and at least have something to show for all that answering… eventually.
